Established in 1977, the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) is a non-profit, voluntary professional association representing over 300 retirement residences province-wide. It sets professional operating standards, inspects and accredits retirement residences and has, on occasion, accredited homes in other provinces. ORCA’s mission is to improve upon retirement living by providing sound leadership, by setting and enforcing quality standards, and by educating and advocating for its members.

ORCA is dedicated to providing quality service to Ontario retirement residences housing approximately 28,000 seniors, representing 70% of Ontario’s 43,380 retirement residence suites. The Association also has within its membership nearly 300 retirement-sector commercial enterprises. In light of impending government regulations, ORCA remains committed to enforcing the highest level of industry standards both with its sound and proven Accreditation program and its newly-implemented Award of Excellence program.
