Celebrating William and Kate's royal wedding
Are you going to get up in the wee hours tomorrow to watch the royal wedding? Maybe prepare an English breakfast for the occasion? Perhaps some English breakfast tea? Let's start the celebration early with some fun trivia. How much do you know about royal weddings?
Do you know how many weddings there have been at Westminster Abbey or when this venerable edifice was built? Read on...
- There have only been 15 royal weddings at Westminster Abbey. The 10th was HRH, Queen Elizabeth II.
- Westminster Abbey was built between 1050 and 1065 and is 225 ft. tall.
- Kate Middelton will ride to the Abbey in a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI car that weighs two-and-a-half tons and is 20 ft. long. It is so well-made that you can drive it even if the tires are flat! Kate's future father-in-law, Prince Charles used it for his wedding to Camilla in 2005.
- Kate will leave her wedding ceremony in a classic horse-drawn carriage, the same one used by Prince William's mother, Princess Diana at her wedding in 1981.
- Kate's bouquet will carry a piece of myrtle which is said to be the "herb of love".
- Apple iTunes will make a digital copy of the ceremony available in May.
