Reviews of Delmanor Glen Abbey

Gain exclusive insight into life at Delmanor Glen Abbey. Comfort Life’s reviews give you exclusive insider information.

Our perspective

Delmanor Glen Abbey is obviously ideal if you love golfing or want to settle close to family in Oakville, but there’s much more to life here! It’s rich with luxury amenities and accommodations that people in later years find an absolute treat. There’s The Greenhouse Potting Room, the Serenity Spa, a movie theatre, and many other features. Delmanor's ambassador program helps new community members feel right at home. Residents we've spoken to enjoy Glen Abbey's gardening outside and exercise room inside, among other things to do. It's an elegant experience, in both the shared spaces and the privacy of your suite.

Delmanor Glen Abbey makes exceptional the rule, treating residents like royalty, respectful of the fact that people have often spent their lives serving others. It fosters a unique combination of coziness and luxury. People here find it very comfortably because it truly has everything you need. People clearly enjoy the atmosphere throughout the community, and they feel at home. Another big part of that is the way they are treated by staff who are respectful and treat residents with dignity and honour.

Aside from its proximity to the world-renowned golf course, there's a wealth of arts and culture in the area of this community, including the Oakville Museum, Oakville Galleries, and the Centre for the Performing Arts. This community features a wide variety of fun and interesting outings for residents to partake in. Treat your loved one to the best in senior living here.

I love my suite because it's easy to get around. I wouldn't want it to be any larger. It's just the right size. Lots of room to move around, and yet everything is handy and very convenient. We [also] have a beautiful back courtyard and the Nino courtyard. It's like a large family here.

I'm very happy to be here! I love to come to the theatre here and see the movies here with my friends. The chairs are very comfortable. In the theatre there [are] not only movies but there are lectures. I also come to the church every Sunday.

Betsy, resident

In the library here, there are computers, there are books, everything you really want! When I came in and I saw the surroundings, I thought this is very, very cozy and very homey!

Joyce, resident

I love coming to the Living Well Centre [inside the community]. There's so much to do here! They have cards. They have games. And then they'll have music or they'll have a lecture. I mainly love the exercise classes. There's one pretty much every day. It gets me moving. I feel better. I'm in a better mood. I've only been here a couple months, but I noticed already that I'm walking better and I'm not as shaky as I was when I came in.

You come in [to the pub] here and people always say hello. The food is absolutely delicious! The staff are super-friendly. It's really enjoyable being in here.

My Mom has been at Delmanor Glen Abbey for several years now, and loves it. My strongest impression is of the staff’s complete professionalism and dedication to the care of their residents. But at the same time they don’t lose sight of the personal touch. This has been particularly true during the pandemic, when the whole Delmanor team struck the perfect balance between adhering to all the regulations while they were in force, but at the same time making sure that the quality of life for their community was impacted to the minimum. They really have been exemplary.

My 95 year old mother has lived at Delmanor for 4 years, and I am so happy we found such a warm and friendly community for her. I love visiting with the other residents and staff when I go to see my mother, and I feel confident she is being well taken care of. As I walk down the hall with her, people stop to chat, the staff at the front desk ask her about her day and whether she is going for a walk, the dining room staff are aware of her food likes and dislikes, and the nursing staff greet her with warm smiles and news of the day when they come by to give her her medication. The staff have been amazing in addressing her needs during COVID, letting me know when she has run out of supplies, keeping me informed of any physical ailments, and conducting video calls during the lockdown so we can see each other. The staff have gone overboard over the last year to make sure the residents remained safe, and did their best to make life fun with socially distanced activities. I am so glad that my mother had such caring staff to help her through this very challenging year when family visits were difficult, and I cannot begin to express how much I appreciate our "Delmanor Family" for keeping my mother safe and happy.

My father has been a resident of the Delmanor Glen Abbey community for over 5 years. He loves his suite, especially the view from his living room window :) He loves the staff and enjoys the company of his fellow residents. They are all like family to him.
He loves the neighborhood and going for walks. Everyone from the Concierge desk, Administration, Health and Wellness, Recreation, Culinary, Housekeeping and Maintenance teams treat him with the upmost respect, care and compassion. You won't find a better place for your loved ones to call home.

My parents have been living at the Delmanor for the past 8 years and each year gets better. Even during these trying times, the entire team continually gives more than 100% to make sure they and all the residents are doing well. The most recent renovations have been completed and the Delmanor not only looks fantastic, it is also modern and very elegant. My parents enjoy the activities and programs offered, even now with some things moved to the Del Manor in house TV channel.
In the summer the gardens are beautiful and the Bocce Ball games cannot be missed. The chefs always come up with special treats for every time of the year. The variety here is plentiful.

It is my pleasure to write this note of appreciation for my Delmanor experience on behalf of my Aunt who is now a resident. From the cheerful, helpful front desk to the supportive, knowledgeable admin staff. They make every effort to serve and support with the resident's needs in mind .I am confident that my aunt's experience here will be a happy, healthy and fulfilling one as it has been so far.

Delmanor is a beautiful retirement home, which backs onto a treed, quiet area, where you can enjoy nature. The facility itself has just been totally redone and it is very bright, modern and a welcoming place to live. The staff are friendly, caring and very helpful. I enjoy the wonderful, varied entertainment, the excursions and the daily social activities that take place The meals are excellent and the dining room staff is very accommodating. The rooms/suites are spacious and very well maintained. There are a variety of lovely areas in which to read, socialize, play games, exercise, watch movies, play pool etc. Everything you need to live a carefree, happy life in your retirement years, is right here under one roof. I've been a longtime resident at Delmanor and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Staff in this place is wonderful. They’ve gone out of their way to do all kinds of things to make things happier and easier for us.

Dinesh, family member

Our family is very grateful for the extra care, however hard it was on families, how strict the procedures were in ensuring that no one found a way around the system.

Dorothy, resident

I felt perfectly safe [in quarantine]. It didn’t worry me at all. They still take our temperature morning and afternoon, and I think that’s great. It gives you peace of mind!

Ida Fieser, resident

The outdoor garden was a surprise, a nice one. There are two raised beds in the back which when you get older you can't bend down. There's also a green room, and I like that. But it's really the people I like the best. It's just like a cruiseship on land that's all I can tell you.

Adelaide Cunningham, resident

I was very impressed by the gardens when I first came here ... not too many other retirement residences have that. My friend complains that I'm never available on the phone, and I said that's because there are always things to do here! We have a calendar here and if you want to you can be busy all the time. I've got no regrets at all about moving here.

Marie, resident

It was hard to leave [the home we owned], but
[my husband] couldn't do things around the house anymore ...
Not having to cook meals gives me more time to do things with
him

Kyle, family member

Staff is friendly, caring and always helpful. The building itself is very clean and well-maintained year round.
