Our Perspective

How we see Mulberry PARC

For all of the features onsite, people make Mulberry PARC great. It bills itself as "a welcoming community," and that's truly a focus. The knitting group is just one example of a friendship circle (a "great group of ladies," says one member) within the larger community. Ideal for families from Burnaby and New Westminster, and for seniors who want to be closer to family here, it's a spectacular retirement home experience. People who move here get a fresh perspective on life thanks to the many possibilities in activities and amenities. Seniors thrive together here.

PARC creates numerous excellent retirement communities throughout the Greater Vancouver area, and Mulberry is a fine example of their work in a prime suburban location. Interior amenities include a fireplace lounge, library and billiards room, along with a spa. You'll love the spacious patio on the outdoor terrace, ideal for summer visits with family, to play chess with the giant chess set, or to just sit out and bask in the sunshine. Suites feature spectacular views of the city and include spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers and other modern features.

All of this comes together to create an experience that both families and senior residents liken to a cruise ship without the waves. There's a lot to do, all of it in an atmosphere we'll call festive. Mulberry PARC brings to life all the best elements of contemporary senior living.

Michelle L., family member

"The staff are all so incredibly nice and professional. We moved our Dad in 2 weeks ago and from the moment we walked in they knew who he was and the move (especially during the pandemic) was quick and efficient. After a few days our Dad said that whenever he came down for his meals they all would say hi and knew his name - we are so thankful to all the Staff at Mulberry they truly do care and do look after their residents. 3 cheers to them! Dining

Our talented culinary teams thrive on creating a daily array of menu choices that are full of flavour and variety. Our Executive Chefs come from high-end hotels and restaurants and you’ll see their passion for food and hospitality come through in the delicious food they prepare everyday. Menu options don’t come down in a cookie-cutter approach from head office. At each residence, the Executive Chef and their culinary teams plan, prep and create their menu options to fit the tastes of their unique communities. Menus are designed around whole grains, fresh produce (some grown onsite in our own gardens), the right amount of protein and plenty of nutrients. In addition to regular well-balanced foods, we’re pleased to offer PARC SMART portion-controlled entrees which are low in sodium, saturated fat and concentrated sugars.

Staff & Care

General Manager's Message
Silvia Moutinho

With a background in administration and the innate ability to provide exceptional customer service, Silvia first started as a receptionist at Mulberry PARC before becoming Resident Services Manager.

Silvia chose to work in this industry because she’s genuinely passionate about working with seniors. She found her calling in the seniors industry after feeling closely connected to seniors and their families through her own experience with aging parents. As a strong communicator who excels at building relationships, Silvia enjoys getting to know each resident and learning how she can help make their retirement experience a fabulous one. She has seen first-hand the powerful and positive impact that a new and enriched lifestyle has on people’s lives, and she’s thrilled to be part of it everyday.

In her spare time, Silvia enjoys spending time with her boys, hiking, bird-watching, cooking and reading.

COVID-19 Information

The pandemic has been a tough time for seniors and their loved ones across Canada. But through it all, Mulberry PARC (along with all PARC communities) has stayed ahead of the curve, keeping our residents safe and healthy, and our communities COVID-19-free.

This is partly thanks to our well-trained team, who quickly and proactively implemented provincial government health-and-safety protocols. But independent retirement communities like PARC are also uniquely positioned to keep residents safe during a pandemic, with multiple layers of defense already in place, from onsite wellness nurses to established sanitization and emergency protocols. As well, we offer chef-prepared meals, weekly suite housekeeping, and private transportation – lifelines when busy grocery stores and public spaces pose risks to seniors.

To protect our residents from COVID-19, we've implemented extra sanitization, physical distancing, mandatory face masks for employees, free resources for residents to shop, and socialize online and family meet-up centres with plexiglass barriers and virus-prevention filtration systems.

Mulberry PARC is as committed as ever to creating safe, independent, respectful, and healthy communities for our residents.
