Happy Grandparents Day From the Team at Comfort Life!

Happy Grandparents Day! Grandparents and grandchildren share a special bond and there is no doubt that grandparents play an important role in our lives.
What is it about grandparents that is so lovely? I'd like to say that grandparents are God's gifts to children. And if they can but see, hear and feel what these people have to give, they can mature at a fast rate.

— Bill Cosby

Comfort Life would like to take a moment to pay tribute to our grandparents and thank grandparents everywhere for your continued love and support.

Kimberley and Grampy

My grandparents live in Nova Scotia and when I was younger my brother and I would spend our summers with them. We both have special memories of baking pies and rolls, playing in the forest, going for walks on the beach and fishing for flounder.  I am lucky to have so many memories of my grandparents but two in particular stick out.  These memories show how much time and effort my grandparents spent to make things fun for us as kids.

One summer we arrived to find that my grandfather had built my brother and I miniature sail boats, each one personalized with tiny details. Who knows how long it took him to build them, but it was well worth it because we spent the entire summer racing them along streams, rivers and on nice days in the ocean.

Another summer a message in a bottle washed up on the beach. It was an old-looking, weathered pirate map.  We spent two days following the clues and eventually unearthed a huge wooden treasure chest filled with pennies. We were rich!

Now that I'm a busy parent myself I know how much love went into everything my grandparents did for us and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them.

Gramps & Me

One of the last times my grandfather and I were together before he died he asked me what year I thought World War II ended. For some reason I said 1946. It was an instant of second guessing myself. He just nodded in that stoic way of his and continued on as if he’d never spoken. To this day it’s like I dropped my ticket for a one way train down a sewer grate. He never talked about his service in the war. To anyone. Perhaps he wouldn’t have said anything more, just wanted to know if future generations were mindful of an event so profound in his life. But I’ll always wonder if I’d answered correctly maybe he would have shared that part of his life with me.
