New web series about aging

Toronto's Better Living Health and Community Services has launched a new series called "Gettin' Up There" to help older adults navigate the aging process. With humour and lots of helpful tips, host Katherine McLeod show viewers how to make the most of this rich time of life.

In the first episode, Katherine attends a 'Lunch & Learn' class at Delmanor Wynford Retirement Living taught by holistic chef and nutritionist, Josephine Zappone. Together they demonstrate three quick dishes (cucumber salad, brown rice quinoa surprise salad and raw, chocolate coconut treats) to an audience of Better Living clients. "Good food equals good living," says McLeod.

Stir up this tasty dessert for the coming holiday season:

Raw chocolate coconut treats

1/2 cup raw cocoa powder?3 cups shredded unsweetened, coconut?3/4 cup of coconut oil?1/2 cup agave nectar (sweetener)
Mix the cocoa and coconut together until it's well combined, then add the coconut oil and agave nectar and mix again.
Roll into small balls, place on a platter and into the freezer.
According to Zappone, these four-ingredient treats are rich in antioxidants and good, healthy fats, have no refined sugar and are full of flavour.
