The Village Langley is a state-of-the-art memory care community, an ideal setting for people dealing with the adverse effects of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. They can live here safely, free to come and go wherever they like within The Village. Family members' worries about tendencies to elopement evaporate. But there's so much more. Residents live a lifestyle that promotes more activity and requires less medication. The environment itself is a holistic treatment.
One of the common remarks from people who move in here is, “There’s so much to do.” And there really is. The games room features a shuffleboard, pool table and blackjack table. There’s also a movie theatre with a lending library. In The Village, another open-concept interior space, there’s a puzzle table, fitness classes daily, and a separate dining room. Floors are heated geo-thermally so you’ll never get cold toes. Suites are spacious, with stylish kitchenettes and an excess of storage closets. You’ll feel like you’ve moved into that luxury suite you loved so much, last time you went on a cruise.
The staff and services are AMAZING, especially given the lockdown due to the Pandemic, the residents are truly lucky to make this place their home. So glad we found them for my Mom, I honestly can not think of a better place for her through this time.
My aunt lives there. She has the best care and is super happy.
My aunt was lucky to become one of the first residents here, and I have visited often. This is a truly groundbreaking facility and the staff are as patient and friendly as you'd hope for. I have noted the postings by others who are upset by the cost of living at The Village; asking "who can afford to live here?" and suggesting it is only for the elite. While I could not afford to live here, that is due to my particular circumstances and life choices. My aunt can afford to live here for many years to come, but I want to share her story and show others that living like this is not reserved just for the wealthy. Auntie M. and her family were sent to live in a BC internment camp during the war, when she was just a young girl. She left, barely into her teens; left her family and left school to return to the Lower Mainland to toil as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. She made this sacrifice to send money back to her parents and siblings. Later, after the war ended and everyone moved back to the Lower Mainland, Auntie M. found work in the Steveston cannery. She never completed her schooling; having to still help her parents and siblings and with little education, working in the cannery was what she could do. But, she was wise with her money, saved up, and bought a house. This house and her very dedicated savings are what allows her to enjoy life in the wonderful The Village now and for years to come. I am so happy that this amazing woman, who did hard physical work her whole life, sacrificed her youth and her education, is thriving at The Village due to her own self taught money management efforts. So to those who are affronted and snidely suggest that a community like The Village is an elitist utopian ideal, I suggest otherwise. Yes, it is costly but it is worth every penny for the high quality of care, the beautiful atmosphere and the priceless dignity with which residents are permitted to live. I couldn't recommend it enough!
We couldn't be more happy with the level of specialized dementia care and understanding provided by all the staff at the Village.
My mom and mother in law have been at Sunridge for a year and half. They both love it there. The staff are fabulous. The events they plan for the residents plentiful and a fun variety. And oh yes, the food delish!
My father in law has lived at Sunridge Gardens for 8+ years and has flourished since moving into this great community.
My mother-in-law had 8 glorious, fun filled years at Sunridge. If you are looking for a supportive, friendly and secure place, this is it. I highly recommend Sunridge, the staff is caring and feels like family. Please check it out!
Mom has been living here for a while. It was a difficult move after dad passed, but the staff are so supportive (for both mom and for us). They have helped mom make acquaintances and know that this is home! I'm very grateful for their support (and Scott in maintenance is a patient and precious gem!)
My mom, Laila Henriksen, says this is a great place to be. Nice and clean and friendly staff and fellow residents. Always something to do, outings, games, movies, socials, events...the food is really good too!
