The vibrancy just outside the door is matched inside, where there’s an extensive list of amenities. There’s an emphasis on space throughout, and seniors who move here will truly find room to grow.

Walk through the building on a tour, and you’ll be struck by the cleanliness and thoroughly modern design. Main floor amenities are varied, with our personal favourite being the library, comfortably laid out and replete with a varied collection of books. It’s right next to the games room with billiards, and the movie theatre. People are genuinely enjoying each others’ company here, as also seen in the lounge. The outdoor patio is one more friendly meeting space.

The dining room in this retirement home is exceptionally spacious. The fare is excellent, with many different options on the menu. Throughout the day, the bistro is open, very modern in its decor—yet another friendly meeting space. Suites are bright, with decor in neutral colours, very modern in their design, including stone facing. Washrooms are optimally accessible. Upper floor suites give a panoramic overview of the local cityscape.

For all of the beauty of the building, both family members and seniors single out the staff for the most praise here. To a person⁠, they’re diligent and vigilant in protecting seniors’ care, safety and comfort. In the COVID crisis, New Edinburgh Square remained virus-free, a shining testament to staff. Staff help people feel fulfilled, active, and energized. The welcoming atmosphere in a vibrant area of the city gives families peace of mind, and they’ll want to visit loved ones often.

"NES has everything going for it! The location is situated a stones throw from the metro, the pharmacy, a variety of coffee shops, bookstore and banking. The staff are accommodating, thoughtful and caring. The caring attitude extends beyond the resident to include family and friends. The manager, Brendan King has been very forthcoming and helpful meeting the special needs of my brother in law. They have a variety of daily activities for all to enjoy. Bordered on the west by the Rideau River, to the north by the Ottawa River, to the south by Beechwood Avenue and on the east by Princess Avenue, our neighbourhood is a walker’s paradise and perfect for people who enjoy the outdoors or have a dog. Residents of Chartwell New Edinburgh Square benefit from direct access to a number of convenient amenities located in the same building as our retirement residence—such as The Scone Witch and Clocktower Brew Pub—with many more located on Beechwood Avenue, including banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, boutiques, cafés and restaurants. The Rideau River is a block away, and we are also nearby Stanley Park. Downtown Ottawa—with its arts and cultural attractions, historic buildings and fine and casual dining choices—is a short 10-minute drive away.
