COVID-19 Information

Maya Angelou once said, “Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” It feels like it is a rather apt reminder as we continue to navigate the pandemic. While we remember to wash our hands, protect ourselves, and respect others, there are also ways in which we can focus on bringing hope and laughter to our community. Let us live with hope and zest for life even while enduring the challenges set before us. We must continue to stay focused on best practises, express gratitude to the caregivers and frontline workers, and above all continue to live in hope and look for ways to “be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.”

Alberta remains under a state of public health emergency. New Public Health restrictions came into effect starting September 16th to reduce the spread and protect our health care system. Businesses participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program will require patrons or clients to be vaccinated or to show a recent negative test result. Recently, British Columbia announced that it will mandate that all healthcare workers be vaccinated for COVID-19 by October 31st, 2021. British Columbia also announced a Vaccination Passport System, and starting October 12th, all visitors to long-term care and assisted-living facilities will need to show proof they have received at least one dose.

Comfort Life Review

stories

Cottonwood Village combines all the best in innovative contemporary senior living with a wonderful location in the Alberta foothills, comfortable driving distance from Calgary. As you drive up to and into this community, you realize this is a very unique take on independent living. We immediately get the feel of a small town, where everybody looks out for each other. From our experience with similar villages across Canada, we know that bungalow living in a village layout facilitates a tight-knit community. Bonds form fast and strong.

For seniors interested in moving to an ideal-sized place to live that still feels very much like a private home, this will fit the bill. Suites are still very new, with appealingly modern interiors focused on the needs of people in this age range. Bungalow living is ideal for people who want to manage back and joint trouble.

General Manager's Message
Nils Breuker

It is an absolute pleasure to introduce myself as General Manager of Cottonwood Village. I am originally from Germany, but my wife and I have called Alberta our home for close to 11 years. We currently live in Lethbridge and are very happy there.

I have a bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management and over 30 years of experience in hotels and customer service. I previously held various positions in hospitality, including Food and Beverage Management, and was a General Manager for 17 years. From my experience in hospitality and making connections with guests, families, and staff, I have learned to value people and care for their needs. I expect to apply those skills and values to making Cottonwood Village residents feel welcomed and at home. I have now found my passion and home in senior care.

During my leisure time, I enjoy skiing and travelling with my wife.
