About Country Cottage

A member of Optima Living

Country Cottage is an independent and assisted senior living community located at 75 Cranford Way in Sherwood Park just off Baseline Road. We at Optima Living feel that it is an honour to work with our residents and enable every person to feel at home. We advocate a resident-centred approach where the resident is the focus of all of our endeavours and strive to fulfil all our residents’ needs so that they can live their best possible life.

Since 2007, Optima Living has established a strong reputation as an owner and operator of seniors’ residential communities located in Western Canada. These communities range from Independent to Assisted Living, Long term Care to Memory Care Living as well as Residential Mental Health. It currently manages more than 800 beds, and has almost another 300 beds under construction in Alberta and B.C.  Optima believes what sets it apart is the unique culture the company works to create in all its seniors’ residential communities, as stated in its North Star – Let us welcome you home. COVID-19 Information

Maya Angelou once said, “Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” It feels like it is a rather apt reminder as we continue to navigate the pandemic. While we remember to wash our hands, protect ourselves, and respect others, there are also ways in which we can focus on bringing hope and laughter to our community. Let us live with hope and zest for life even while enduring the challenges set before us. We must continue to stay focused on best practises, express gratitude to the caregivers and frontline workers, and above all continue to live in hope and look for ways to “be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.”

Alberta remains under a state of public health emergency. New Public Health restrictions came into effect starting September 16th to reduce the spread and protect our health care system. Businesses participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program will require patrons or clients to be vaccinated or to show a recent negative test result. Recently, British Columbia announced that it will mandate that all healthcare workers be vaccinated for COVID-19 by October 31st, 2021. British Columbia also announced a Vaccination Passport System, and starting October 12th, all visitors to long-term care and assisted-living facilities will need to show proof they have received at least one dose.

Comfort Life Review

stories

When you move into an Optima Living community, there’s an established manner of welcoming newcomers. It’s part of their larger focus on making seniors’ quality of life the very best possible. In our experience with their other communities, we see how their resident-centered approach focuses on respect and dignity, and meeting you as you are. For example, communities connect with local churches to make sure that senior residents are especially welcome there.

For all that intimacy and friendliness, this is like a cruise ship on land, including chef-prepared meals and a wide array of features and amenities. As with many people, you'll probably wish you had made the move earlier.

Staff & Care

General Manager's Message
Gloria Kondel

I have worked in various positions at Country Cottage over the last 21 years, including as a cook, working in recreation, the Office Manager, and now, the General Manager. I have gained knowledge and developed deep-caring compassion and love for seniors from hands-on experience. I love hearing their stories and experiences.

My goal is to communicate and interact with commitment, trust, compassion, and understanding. I consider the Country Cottage residents my second family. My main focus is on the safety of the residents and building the community at Country Cottage.
