Our Perspective

How we see Deer Park

The Hamlets of Deer Park is a comfortable, comforting place for older residents of Red Deer and the area. No matter what age you are, you should be in a place that brings out your best. Deer Park offers a community of people your own age, surrounded by caring staff who treat you like their own family. Care here is founded on Optima Senior Living’s principled approach to retirement living, grounded in deep, loving respect for our elders.

The first thing that strikes us about Deer Park is the activity calendar here, which is both full and varied. There’s everything from floor curling to fitness classes to tea socials to Bible Study (and more!) It’s deliberately lively. People who’ve moved here will tell you that they find it very reinvigorating. It’s fun to be with peers all day! And on top of that, the staff is very engaged in their work and very friendly with everyone.

This mid-rise building is designed specifically to create a community of peers under one roof. Indeed, people throughout the building look very comfortable with each other. And that’s the great thing about living here. Sure, the suites at The Hamlets are comfy and actually quite spacious, but Deer Park’s whole building is your home. There’s “living space” galore, including a craft room, a pool room, a chapel, a theatre, and even a general store. The “back yard” of your home includes a courtyard and patio. All of that adds up to full days for seniors who live here.

In addition to the shopping, parks, and restaurants that are close by, our residential care community within a community offers so much within. Our goal is to support those looking to find a community that can support them in their daily walk through life, whatever their activity level, medical or care level needs. Deer Park recognizes that residents are also part of their larger community so relationships with families, friends and community links are encouraged and celebrated. Our staff members strive to meet the individual needs of each of our residential care residents. We understand that all people experience life facing different challenges and having different needs.
