Make your vote count for seniors on May 2nd!
This weekend, you may get one more visit from your local election candidates before Canadians go to the polls on Monday, May 2nd.Make sure that you are voting for the party that will make seniors' issues a priority by asking them as many specific questions as you can.
CARP has created a list of "doorstep questions" that you may want to use.
For example:
- Do you support an end to mandatory RRIF withdrawals?
- Will you support a funded comprehensive program of home care for all Canadians who need it?
- Will you support a significant increase to the GIS to lift seniors out of poverty?
- Do you support more than $1,000 per year to help family caregivers?
- Will you support making vulnerability due to age a specific aggravating factor in sentencing elder abuse cases?
- Do you support expanding the CPP and or providing access to a supplementary plan like it?
- Will you support auto?enrollment in the GIS/OAS and an end to retroactive limits on OAS/GIS/CPP?
