New Sunset Daze TV series: 'lively' retirement living
What's life really like in an active-adult retirement community? According to the new Vision TV series, "Sunset Daze", it resembles the cheeky activities spoofed in the 2011 Claremont Residence calendar! The reality/documentary series starts Tuesday, January 18th at 10 p.m. ET and features the lively residents of Surprise, Arizona's "Sunset Daze" retirement community.
These retirees range in age from 61 to 74 and plan to live life to its fullest whether that means enjoying a double pino grigio, finding love after widowhood or skydiving for the first time.
The engaging cast of nine characters includes Jack the ladies man, Ann, the ex-nun who's ready for adventure, Joanne the best-friend who doesn't let Multiple Sclerosis stop her from enjoying life, Sandy the 'wild child' widow, big-hearted LaWanda and her husband Doug who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's and ALS, Linda the new girl in town, Gail the fiery red-headed singer and actress, Eileen who spent her life juggling family and career and is looking forward to some downtime and Ron, promoter extraordinaire and big-man-on-campus.
The series has garnered praise from the New York Times and the Boston Globe:
“reassuring portrait of adults who can still act like kids but are at peace with their twilight years.”
Alessandra Stanley, NY Times
“really well done; it’s actually kind of touching.”
Matthew Gilbert, Boston Globe
