Scarborough Retirement Residence combines proximity to the heart of Toronto with a down-home, family-owned feeling. It’s a relatively small community, where staff can tailor care to individual’s needs. There’s a genuine sense of compassion that comes through in everything they do here. Management is sincere, caring, detail-oriented, and focused on the comfort of seniors. Senior living is truly their life's passion as you’ll discover.
This place is perfect for mature adults who want a fresh start or a new beginning, (even if you don't realize that's what you want). If you've ever dreamed of living in a luxurious hotel year round, this is the place for you. Stepping into this residence will instantly dispel any notions you may have about seniors' communities. Progressive-minded senior living is exemplified by the fact that it was one of the first GTA retirement homes to follow the green rating system Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
What I liked about Scarborough when I first sort of visited it was it's a smaller community and I felt that there was more of an opportunity for my mum to feel part of a family versus getting lost in the crowd... Scarborough Retirement Residence bills themselves as a boutique senior residence and I consider it as such. There's very much a family feel when you enter the residence. And in terms of the ownership and management team, I feel that they're really first class... Mom has a greater level of contentment and with that contentment... she doesn't have to worry about anything. She doesn't have to worry about looking after the house or paying bills or anything like that. She can really just enjoy her life. And so I've seen that kind of improvement. There's no question that kind of change is a significant change for someone of that age to move from the family home into a new residence. But with time, I've seen her make that adjustment. She feels that she's safe, she doesn't have to worry about anything. I've noticed the difference when I call her. There's an upbeat tone in her voice now. For me, it feels like a home environment, a place where you actually can call it home. It has that welcoming feel as soon as you walk in the door. Staff are super friendly. There's usually residents sort of sitting in the lobby enjoying a conversation. That smaller community feel gives you a sense that you're in a home.
My mom has been a resident at SRR for close to 3 years. This place is extremely well run and puts the care and comfort of its residence first. The staff are very kind and empathetic and this approach is seen at every level of the organization. From the ownership to the facility support person the residents are the number one priority. This last year during the pandemic has been extremely difficult for all seniors homes but I’m happy to say my mom and her fellow residents have been kept safe and healthy throughout the ordeal. SRR follows protocols to the letter but is also innovative in delivering the enrichment activities and services that are so important to the well being of the residents. We would recommend SRR without reservation to anyone looking at moving into this residence.
I've made many friends here. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
It's loaded with things to do: learn how to paint a picture, join a party and have some fun ... it has everything!
There are many things that keep me busy here [including] exercise, entertainment, games and trips.
Many families struggle with transitioning family members from their residence to a retirement home and my family was no different. Delmanor Wynford did a fantastic job at easing this transition for my family and more importantly, for my grandfather who was making Delmanor Wynford his new home. Delmanor Wynford offers a wide range of activities every week, including bingo, exercise classes, and day trips around the city. They also have a number of cozy amenities such as a pub with a pool hall, rooftop terrace, a theatre and a chapel. These activities and events made it easy for my grandfather and other residents to develop close friendships with one another. The dining room service is top notch and they have various menu options for each meal to satisfy any craving. The staff are very friendly and guests are able to visit as frequently as they would like while enjoying a sit down meal! Sophia at the front desk developed a close bond with my grandfather and our family through her charismatic personality and positive outlook on life. My family is very grateful for everything Sophia did for my grandfather and what she continues to do for my great aunt who is a current resident at Delmanor Wynford. The current GM Matt Ross is extremely friendly and is always available to address any questions or concerns you may have. Matt works effortlessly to ensure the best experience and transition for your loved one at Delmanor Wynford. I would highly recommend Delmanor Wynford if you are considering transitioning your loved one to a retirement home.
My Gran moved into DelManor in September of 2019 and we are so thankful to the staff for making her feel so comfortable and important. When Gran celebrated her 98th birthday in May of 2020, right at the start of the COVID-19 lockdown, the staff allowed us to organize a birthday parade in the parking lot and brought her down to the window so she could see us and know how loved she is. Keri took pictures of us from inside so we were able share them with Gran afterwards and she could see everyone again in our crazy outfits and hats. During this whole pandemic the staff have gone above and beyond to make the residents feel secure and every time I speak with Gran she tells me how happy she that she was able to move in before the pandemic hit and how she is in the best place for her because they look after her so well. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this home and I will be eternally grateful to the caring staff for making sure Gran and our entire family have peace of mind that she is being taken care of to the best of their ability.
My mom has been living at Delmanor for a few years now and loves living there. The staff are very warm, welcoming, supportive and approachable and have been so careful with taking all necessary precautions to maintain the health and safety of residents during this pandemic. In addition, they have set up Zoom calls for our family so we can stay connected with my mom and I know they are doing their best to keep the residents connected through hallway gatherings. Thank you for your kind and caring approach during this very difficult and challenging time.
I moved into Delmanor Wynford during the pandemic and I was very much impressed with the décor of the premises; what you might label as Upper Don Mills. From my spacious suite to the elegant dining room, I see spectacular appointments every day. The staff are caring and respond to your needs with alacrity. The food is substantial and nutritious, served by a uniformed waiting staff that move like their pants are on fire. Life here due to the restrictions of the virus has changed the dynamics of the community but management tries as best they can to make life better. Long-time residents tell me with glowing hearts how grand life was here pre-covid. Safety and security are guaranteed along with extreme health and nursing care. At my age I’m waiting to go to a “Better Place,” but as long as I’m breathing there is no better place.
My parents moved [here] in the fall 2019. I am so impressed with the facilities and the staff. On every level the wellbeing of the tenants is paramount. Throughout [the] pandemic the teamwork and dedication of the staff is so impressive. They are working tirelessly to protect and reassure, and it is so appreciated. My parents are well fed, well taken care of and appreciate the camaraderie and positive attitudes that constantly surround them.
