The spectrum of independence and care
Active adult retirement communities are projected to be the dominant trend in retirement living over the next decade. This option allows them to live in community with their peers, retaining independence. These types of communities can have on-site golf courses and much more.
Independent living retirement homes may provide 65 plus adults with meals and some basic services such as laundry, etc., but – as the name implies- seniors are mainly independent. Adults in these homes may not require medical help regularly but that option may be offered as an extra expense or residents may wish to hire their own help.
Assisted living retirement homes are suited to seniors who may require some aid with some regular activities like meal preparation, laundry and medication but who are otherwise independent.
Long term care and Alzheimer's Care retirement homes, while not necessarily synonymous are both at the high end of care requirements and daily or monthly costs. In both these instances, seniors will require extensive attention from medical staff.
