Christmas is a wonderful time for family and friends to come together and celebrate. However, this time of year can be rather difficult for some, particularly the elderly. A great number of senior citizens — living either alone or in a retirement home — spend the holidays in isolation. That’s why it’s so important to devote some quality time to your aging loved ones. You’d be surprised at how a single visit during the holiday season can make a world of difference. In our retirement community, every occasion is a good one to celebrate, but the winter holidays hold a special place in our hearts. That’s why we make every effort to help our residents enjoy the season. Here are a few ways we bring the magic of Christmas to the halls of our retirement homes. DAZZLING DECORATIONS To start, we create a festive atmosphere throughout the building. Wreaths, twinkling lights, figurines, stockings and more adorn the common areas. Residents who want to get into the holiday spirit are welcome to help decorate the tree. DELICIOUS FOOD For many, a lavish meal enjoyed in good company is the pinnacle of the holiday season. That’s why our chefs work tirelessly to prepare traditional, mouth watering dishes, from turkey and glazed ham to roasted vegetables and decadent desserts. LIVELY MUSIC In December, we invite a variety of local singers, musicians and choirs to fill our halls and hearts with classic holiday tunes. Residents are invited to clap to the beat, sing along and show off their moves on the dance floor.

FUN ACTIVITIES Our entertainment organizers are committed to adding joy and laughter to our residents’ lives. From holiday-themed crafts and games to Christmas markets and movie nights, there’s sure to be something for everyone. During the holidays and throughout the year, we strive to offer our residents countless opportunities to socialize, have a good time and create wonderful memories. Setting some time aside to visit our elders is important, and not just at Christmas. We need to make an effort throughout the year. Regular calls and occasional visits and outings when possible are some of the best gifts you can give them. Merry Christmas and Happy 2024 from all of us at Chateau Glengarry

We had an absolutely fantastic winter season this year, and what made it even more incredible is that we managed to stay flu-free and COVID-free so far. This remarkable achievement is all thanks to the unwavering diligence and commitment of everyone in our community, who have been practicing good habits and following the recommended guidelines to keep each other safe.

To celebrate the spirit of the holiday season, we organized a special event on December 21st. We were fortunate to have a highly talented musician join us to serenade the crowd with beautiful melodies on the guitar. The atmosphere was filled with joy and warmth as our residents enthusiastically sang along with the singer, spreading the festive cheer all around. The lively tunes even got everyone on their feet, dancing and swaying to the rhythm.
