Among Vancouver retirement homes, Chelsea Park is a uniquely homey, comfortable environment offering striking value for anyone 55 and older. It’s a boutique-style retirement community, less formal than some other retirement residences, but with much of the vibrancy you’ll find in more expensive communities. With respect to the activities and amenities, you’ll find everything you need to make days complete.
Older Vancouverites will find a bright, welcoming retirement home in South Vancouver’s Shannon Oaks. Those who are currently living alone in a place that’s no longer suited to them will find this is an especially ideal place to live. You’ll discover friendly, kind people your own age, served by exceptionally helpful staff in a setting that’s wonderfully comfy and homey. It’s ideally suited to seniors, built and run with their needs in mind.
We are very proud of the Chelsea Park staff and the warm and caring community that they have created in this small spot near Trout Lake Park.
Thanks so much for the care you and your team gave to my mother while at Chelsea Park. I was not expecting such a great experience. We looked at the places that charge double the cost of your facility does so we were expecting to lower our expectations since we could not afford the other places. But much to our surprise you were so much better than we could’ve ever experienced at any other place, simply the best. I think it is because of your genuine care and attention to my mother and all of the other residents under your management. I honestly found that the rest of the staff were very good but somehow you were a shining like that made me feel like I was leaving my mother with a loving family member who really cared about her. You were professional and caring to the maximum degree. I also found your son to always greet us with a smile and always went out of his way to help us. Thanks for making the moving out process just as great as the moving in and staying process. Our new place is good since it is subsidized and will make the transition to a nursing home easier as my mother deteriorates with time and age but we already miss Chelsea. If there is anything I can do to make sure your hard work is appreciated by your manager/employer at any time please let me know. I know you do what you do because it is just your nature and you do not expect to be rewarded, but you deserve to be recognized for doing much more than what most people would do in your position and with genuine care.
If you want a friendly place, not too formal, this is the greatest place to be. I would never want to go anywhere else. I would recommend this to anyone. I would recommend it to anyone.
You couldn’t ask for any better service than the girls that work in the dining room. The chef is also wonderful. Bus trips to different places are also very enjoyable.
We felt very uncomfortable about moving to the city, but you would never know we are in one. We walk across the street to places we call the ‘People Beach’, the ‘Dog Beach’, and the ‘Duck Bench’ at Trout Lake. At our new home we get lunch & dinner served in the attractive dining room. The staff are very good at remembering what people can and cannot eat. We are very happy here and cannot imagine living anywhere else. We get our suite cleaned once a week. I feel very spoiled. I would advise anyone looking for a place to live, “Come to Chelsea Park you will be very happy.”
It has a feeling of home, or maybe even better than home... It's like a cruise ship on land and there's just all the facilities. [Mom] doesn't have to worry about her meals. My mom doesn't drive, so [before] that was just something that was very difficult. All her shopping is taken care of for her now. And it's got a lovely inner courtyard. Mom didn't get out of her suite very much [at first but] now she phones me. She says, oh, I walked around the courtyard two or three times tonight.... She gets excited about that. And it's beautiful out there.
I say, it's like Disneyland. It's ... just a beautiful place, so it's nice and you feel good about that. You want your mom or any parent to be in a great place where you feel good about it.
I wanted her to enjoy this part of her life and just instead of going from her home, maybe struggling straight into assisted living or care, because I think there's some pretty cool stuff that goes on that she can still [enjoy]. And I think her nutrition has gotten better, and those things make me feel better because now some of that weight is off my shoulders... I go in to see her at least three times a week and she's happy about it.
My sister has lived at Shannon Oaks since September of 2014. She has been very happy there and I have found the staff and administration very kind, considerate and competent in all of their interactions with her and me, I am her main support system and I do not live in Vancouver so it is a huge relief to know that she is safe and cared for. It is a beautiful facility and the residents are friendly, helpful and from my observation live their life adhering to their Christian values in terms of how they care & show concern for one another. Shannon Oaks is a wonderful place with great staff. Thank you Shannon Oaks for your help and support. (posted to Google, 2014)
I feel safer here than I did at home because of the people who come in here doing checks. There’s a safety about Shannon Oaks during the [pandemic] that I would have never had anywhere else. I love the way that Shannon Oaks offers me so many things, and I can take from it what suits me. I don’t have to change myself to be here. I can take part in whatever I want. There’s a sense of freedom, and [no matter what happens] I just pick up the phone and [someone takes care of things.] They give me everything. (2020)
My father has happily lived at Shannon Oaks for the past 12 years. He is always commenting on how friendly and caring all the staff are, how good the food is and how lucky he feels to be living at Shannon Oaks. The administration and staff have handled the trying times of COVID with much compassion and consideration for all residents and their families and continue to do their utmost to ensure all are and continue to be safe. My father’s experience at Shannon Oaks has been very positive. (posted to Google, 2020)
