New Community Opened Mar, 2022
New renovation opened Dec, 2021
The Crossing in Garlands Crossing, Nova Scotia is a place where many good people, aged 50, 60 and older come together to create a new community ideally suited to who they are now. Like other active living communities across Canada, it’s a very relaxed environment. People routinely tell you they “have everything we need here.” Bungalow living simplifies life, and they delight in the fact that neighbours are all similar in age and interests. You can see that delight in the way they interact with each other. It’s apparent that friendships have formed at the Crossing.
This community celebrated a tenth anniversary in 2020. While it is indeed a growing community, with new construction underway, it’s also one that’s growing together more closely. For example, there’s a newsletter sharing updates, and individual residents are highlighted on a growing blog, recent online additions that augment the real-life community here.
Of course, the real highlight of life here is the people right in the community. Many people here are from the Windsor area or nearby parts of the province. When they move here, they find they have connections or similar histories. It’s really an ideal way to downsize your life into a home perfectly suited for you, with a community of peers, in the heart of the province.

"The people here help each other. Last fall when we were getting our tires from our shed and placing them in our car, two different men who lived at The Crossing – who we hadn’t met before – stopped and offered their help. Everyone here [is] really friendly."
