Our Perspective

How we see Wisteria Place

Wisteria Place brings Optima Living’s progressive-minded approach in senior living to the Steveston neighbourhood of Richmond. It’ll remind you of a five star hotel in terms of the quality of the accommodations and the amenities. It’s a beautiful new residence, staffed by dedicated professionals passionate about giving individualized attention to seniors.

New retirement homes like Wisteria Place offer a unique opportunity to be part of and help form a vibrant new community of fellow seniors. Those who move here and take full advantage of the amenities will find the move ideally revitalizing. Staff here value connection and harmony, two words they emphasize. They're all very highly experienced with a wise understanding of people’s different personalities, as well as wants and needs. Becoming part of a community based on those core values is uplifting and gratifying for seniors.

The community staff create is set in a beautiful, still-very-new building in a peaceful, established neighbourhood. All of this combines to encourage seniors to deepen their love for others through volunteer opportunities here, an internal buddy system, with communal amenities shared with people who become friends. Features include a fitness studio, spa, and more.

General Manager's Message
Sheila Lively

Working in management for seniors care and luxury hotels, such as Marriott and Fairmont, I have learned that a collaborative and supportive leadership style builds strong relationships that ensure day-to-day operations of a community resulting in high-quality care. I care about the team, both as it relates to staff and as it relates to our residents, and I am excited to share my knowledge and expertise with Wisteria Place.

COVID-19 Information

Maya Angelou once said, “Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” It feels like it is a rather apt reminder as we continue to navigate the pandemic. While we remember to wash our hands, protect ourselves, and respect others, there are also ways in which we can focus on bringing hope and laughter to our community. Let us live with hope and zest for life even while enduring the challenges set before us. We must continue to stay focused on best practises, express gratitude to the caregivers and frontline workers, and above all continue to live in hope and look for ways to “be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.”

Alberta remains under a state of public health emergency. New Public Health restrictions came into effect starting September 16th to reduce the spread and protect our health care system. Businesses participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program will require patrons or clients to be vaccinated or to show a recent negative test result. Recently, British Columbia announced that it will mandate that all healthcare workers be vaccinated for COVID-19 by October 31st, 2021. British Columbia also announced a Vaccination Passport System, and starting October 12th, all visitors to long-term care and assisted-living facilities will need to show proof they have received at least one dose.
