Do You Need Perfect Health?

Life is not perfect.  Things get in the way.  That’s why, as Healthy Zoomers, we believe it’s important to live a balanced lifestyle instead of obsessing over every new food, new super supplement or new exercise program.

Feeling guilty about not living the perfect life can be a huge roadblock to achieving a healthier life, so find some “middle ground” when working towards your health and fitness goals.  The truth is, you probably have a pretty good physical foundation to work from.  And, anything you can do to be more physically active, to eat better or to relax more often will help to take your health to an even greater level.

To jumpstart your healthy life today, your first action should be to plan out what you want to do.  Time will slip away if you don’t take hold of it, so carving out the time and the activities you need to do to better your health will greatly improve your chances of success.

So, start by setting aside a few minutes each day just for yourself.   Then, think about how you can incorporate the following tips into your life.

Find out what works for you

Following someone else’s rules may not work for you. Take the time to sketch out a strategy that will work for your busy lifestyle – not necessarily what will work for your family or friends.

Manage your stress

Our idea of the perfect life is one that is carefree and without stress.  Of course, we all know that this does not happen on a day-to-day basis. So, start to say “no” to things you don’t need to do.  Then, find activities that bring you joy and relaxation, such as talking with friends, meditating, exercising or journaling.

Exercise regularly

We all know the benefits of regular exercise, so choose exercises or activities that make you feel good. More importantly, if you miss a workout, don’t obsess about it.  There’s always tomorrow to get back on track.

Eat a variety of whole foods (most of the time)

This doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the occasional treat.  However, you can take pleasure in the food you eat knowing that you’re likely getting the proper nourishment you need, in the long run, to be healthy.

The bottom line: remember that there isn’t a perfect way to living a healthy life.  Some weeks are better than others, but if you have a regular plan in place, you will be in great health more often than not.
