There are many great things to say about St. Elizabeth Village, but one unique aspect of this community is residents' ability to leverage the market value of the home they purchase, through the community's life lease program. Given that real estate values rise consistently in Hamilton (especially on the mountain) this gives you the best of both worlds: the security and freedom of 55 plus living, along with the equity you'll build up from investing in your home here.
Tansley Woods is ideal for a variety of people. Older adults who currently live alone love that they can have all their housework and meals taken care of, and can find friends to talk to just outside the door. For seniors who are advancing in age, there are customized levels of care focused exactly on their needs. The community here is warm and inviting.
My aunt lives there, and I visit her frequently. It's a nice place with lots of activities.
Gated community that is absolutely lovely. The light displays are wonderful for the entire family. Staff does a great job!
St. Elizabeth's Village is a local 55+ retirement community in Hamilton, Ontario. They run several free events during the year to help support charities in the community. The Village After Dark - Halloween Celebration: It’s a free, all-ages event that collects non-perishable food donations for Hamilton Food Share. It grows larger every year with a scare walk, a light show set to music, and a haunted hay ride! The Holiday Stroll: It's a winter wonderland of dazzling lights and festive music. Those are just 2 examples of the many fun-filled, free activities that you'll find at St. Elizabeth's. There are more to discover. If you're 55+ they also have beautiful new homes available for purchase. What a wonderful place!
Beautiful neighbourhood up in Hamilton Mountain. They have decorated it for Halloween, and it is so nice to see the work they have done. A quiet and peaceful vibe when you enter the village.
Clean and tidy. My aunt likes it.
I visit frequently and always find the staff welcoming and friendly. That is so important for your residence. Thank you for your good care.
Very friendly and pleasant staff. You feel very satisfied knowing that your friend is being well taken care of. Keep up the great work, especially on the second floor, for long-term assistance.
Always a very positive experience at Tansley!!
The staff here are truly caring and dedicated, and they've made a huge difference in my Stepmother's life. She's thrived since moving in, and it's clear the care provided goes far beyond the occasional mechanical hiccup. Perhaps we can balance our feedback with a bit more understanding and kindness, especially when it comes to issues that don't reflect the facility's overall quality of care.
Tansley Woods has amazing staff. It's always very clean, and they take great care of my grandmother.

Our Village is a proud part of a Canadian family tradition of community building that goes back 70 years. The first Schlegel family home became the foundation of what Schlegel Villages is today. Here at The Village of Tansley Woods, we offer several lifestyle options to meet a variety of needs. Our continuum of care allows for residents to age with us in place as their needs change. The residents we serve come from a range of backgrounds that thread together the fabric of our community, and while we know resident-centredness is a term that many lean on these days, we truly do focus on each individual’s wishes to guide our approach to service. Our Signature Programs help us focus on the individuality of each resident we serve. Our LIVING in My Today dementia care philosophy, for example, was developed by our team and our partners alongside people with lived experience. This provides our team the opportunity to learn exactly what it means to support a person who is experiencing the changing perceptions of dementia. We also celebrate the Wisdom of the Elder as another Signature Program, thanks to the inspiration of our founder Ron Schlegel. Ron once said: “The greatest untapped resource in Canada, if not the world, is the collective wisdom of our elders,” and we honour the individual and collective wisdom of those we serve in ways large and small.

The Village of Tansley Woods is located on the corner of Upper Middle Rd. and Itabashi Way where the street is marked by the flowering of Sakura (cherry blossom) trees every Spring. The blooming of these trees occur at the end of April to early May and is symbolic of the close friendship between the cities of Burlington and Itabashi, Japan. If you further explore the neighbourhood, you will find the Itabashi Garden and Itabashi bridge over Shoreacres Creek and trail by the Tansley Woods Community Center.
