Our Perspective

How we see Berwick Royal Oak

Berwick is the name behind some of the most beautiful senior living buildings in British Columbia. Royal Oak, just outside of Victoria, is one more example of their finesse in turning senior living into a “Wow! experience.” From the stone construction exterior, to the multiplicity of dining options, to palatial suites, everything about this community speaks to Berwick’s emphasis on creating wonderful living experiences for our elders.

This is a place where you’ll feel like royalty. You leave behind all the inconveniences of home ownership or living alone, to move into a space where you’re treated with respect and compassion by staff, and the people around you are all at their absolute best thanks to the generously luxurious setting. This is like living in a luxury resort that you can call home. Throughout Royal Oak, you’ll see people who have evidently formed comfortable friendships. Care staff (senior living experts) tend closely to the seniors and you can witness an easy rapport between many staff members and those in their care.

Suites are notably spacious and luxurious. This really feels like creating a new home for yourself, comfortable, and bright, and including main floor walkouts, or upper floor suites with roomy balconies or bay windows. The full continuum of care (independent living to assisted to long term care) here makes it a welcoming place for couples who have varying needs, and a safe landing spot for those whose needs may increase in the future and who don’t want to move later.

Dining here is focused on health and choices, with meals prepared by a red seal chef, and the food … well it’s simply delicious. Residents dine in elegant style in the wonderful dining room, plus there’s outdoor dining. Along with those options, there’s an onsite pub (The Shield and Dragon), plus a bistro. This plethora of options is another way in which this feels like a palatial resort, a free space for seniors to meet friends, relax and live.
