Our Perspective

How we see Livita Barrington Retirement Residence

When you first pull into the Livita Barrington, it feels like a drive into a secluded, well-maintained estate. The setting is peaceful and calming, next to a private school, in an area populated by mature trees. For people making a move later in life, if that setting feels welcoming, it’s merely the basis for the warm, friendly community that you’ll find here. This is a move into a new home that truly feels homey.

The comforting environment, only blocks away from Minet’s Point and Barrie Harbour—and ideal for people from throughout Barrie-Innisfil—is just the first of several outstanding, unique characteristics of this community. We’ve heard from a number of families that the move into Livita Barrington was as smooth as possible for older loved ones who needed a change of address and found that the move here improved their lives. Staff here are renowned for their caring attitude. They clearly love their work, and take pride in helping those in their care. Seniors will be reminded of the work ethic, dedication, and compassion of yesteryear when they witness the diligence and kindness in action here.

The food, spacious suites, and the remarkable cleanliness are all sources of further delight, for both people in the community and their family members. Activities are well-attended, with happy participation from those in the community. Thanks to the warm setting and the caring community, the comfort of the transition only increases over time, as seniors here quickly grow to love their new home. It’s the kind of place that brings out the best in people, creating a great place to live in your later years.

  • Above and beyond! by Cathy Gilmore

On behalf of our Mother, Audrey Sanderson, we would like to thank all the staff at the

Barrington for being so supportive to our Mom. It was a very trying time for her & us.

All the staff went above & beyond helping her settle in.  At times Mom could be challenging

& even though she was confused, she was happy & you could hear her sing "The Old Gray Mare."

The Barrington makes you feel at home & everyone does their part to see that you feel that way.

Special thanks goes out to Emily de Winter & her Leadership team--- Glenda Cowling, Joy Grenon,

Amee Gapin, Colleen Switzer & Brad Southon.

We would not hesitate to refer The Barrington to anyone.

    Thanks to all of you.

  • I can't say enough about the staff by J. Hotham

Mom had an amazing seven years at the Barrington. It is hard to find words to express our gratitude in the care mom received and the love from her Barrington family.

Our mom lived at the Barrington for seven years until her passing.  The Livita Barrington is a lovely place to live.  A community within a community.  Their staff is kind, caring and compassionate. From Emily the G.M., whom is always open to talking to you. Joy and Christine meet you at the front desk and greet you like you are part of their family. Amee who provides amazing programming, Brad who makes sure that everything is ok. Glenda and her amazing team who took wonderful care of mom and guided us through mom's end of life journey.  I can't say enough about the staff.  Mom was safe, content and we knew that she was loved. We were appreciative of the level of care shown by all staff. Our mom was part of an amazing Barrington family.

  • Glad to live here! by Frances Barker

At this time with COVID I would like to express how much gratitude for the admirable way you all “stepped up to the plate” to make a tough situation workable. You all put a smile on your face and yes I even heard a giggle here and there from the back of my room. So there will be no golden Emmys for you , only cheers and applause for such a job well done and let you know how glad I am I’ve chosen to live here.

  • Truly a warm, comfortable place to live by J. Benjamin

Livita Barrington has been a lifesaver for our family. We moved our mom to Livita back in 2020 after a hospitalization. She was unable to return home and Livita became her new HOME. It is truly a warm, comfortable place to live! She loved it! She sang praises about the staff, the food, and the accommodations.
We lost mom earlier this year, but my dad has moved in now! He constantly talks about the staff at the Livita (kitchen, cleaning, maintenance, nursing, administration - EVERYONE!). He is treated with respect and kindness, is served great meals and his room is beautiful! ALL of his needs are being met! Livita has become a part of our family. We don’t have to worry about him living alone. There is always staff available if needed. During these crazy covid times our family feels blessed to know dad is living the best life he can and is happy! Thank you!!

  • I highly recommend this Retirement Home! by Sylvia Meadows

I highly recommend this retirement home. The onboarding was fantastic. Such a caring team of professionals. Joy Grenon the Communications Mgr even came in on a Sunday to spend a few hours "bonding" with our Mom. The facility is spotless and the commitment from every team member to make the residents feel welcomed and at home is outstanding. A huge bonus was no 2 week lock-down was required because Mom has been given both vaccines. Such a relief to know she is in the best possible hands. 5+ Stars

General Manager's Message
Brandon Roi

Welcome to the Barrington! We look forward to meeting you and helping you find a place that you will truly feel at home. Whether you are new to retirement living or making a bold change in your life we know that your decision will not be made lightly. Our dedicated team is here to help guide and support you in making the best decision that will match your needs. Community living is a different, but wondrous thing, and we look forward to helping you transition and embrace this new lifestyle.

At the Barrington you will have the opportunity to meet like minded people, you will develop friendships, and you will be well cared for by the team and your peers.

“I bring 15+ years experience to Livita Barrington Retirement Residence from both corporate and privately owned retirement residences in our beautiful Simcoe County.  Before I entered the healthcare industry, I was a Service Manager at a local dealership as my original interest was with automobiles; everything about them I found to be very exciting and fun!  However, when I was approached to consider managing in retirement I jumped at the opportunity to learn more and to gain valuable experiences within the retirement industry.  Waking up everyday with a purpose to help others and knowing that my contributions will improve their quality of life is makes for a great day, everyday!

Aside from my passion for retirement living, I love to be on the water as much as possible.  Four generations of my family are from a small Georgian Bay community called Go Home Bay that does not have any road access!  Boating, swimming, kayaking, and enjoying nature at it’s finest is how I like to spend my free time on our wonderful Georgian Bay.

Livita Barrington Retirement Residence is a magical retirement location that I hope to continue building on it’s success!
