What do you do differently or uniquely well?

Relax on our well-appointed balconies and patios with views of mature trees or stroll our landscaped grounds on a private paved trail. Our active and engaged seniors head up more than a dozen resident-led groups and clubs on everything from a billiards league and gardening group to an in-house choir and mah-jong club. Many of our residents join us from London neighbourhoods like Westmount, Sunningdale and Masonville, as well as Arva, Thorndale and the Greater Toronto Area.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

Moving into a new community can be a big transition, so we work closely with each resident and their family to make the move as comfortable as possible. Our team takes time to learn about residents’ preferences, routines, and interests so they feel at home quickly. Staff introduce new residents to programs, dining spaces like the Bistro, and social opportunities that help them connect with neighbours. Because our community offers a variety of activities each day—from arts to cultural events—many residents find it easy to become engaged and build friendships early on. Our goal is to make every new resident feel welcomed and supported from day one.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

At Amica London, residents benefit from a continuum of support that can adapt as needs evolve. We offer independent living and assisted living, allowing residents to receive additional care without leaving the community they know. Our professional care team works closely with residents and families to assess needs and adjust services accordingly. This might include assistance with daily activities or more structured support in assisted living. The goal is to provide attentive, personalized care so residents can maintain independence while having access to help whenever it’s needed.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

We may not be the right fit for someone who prefers to live entirely independently without the social aspects of community life might feel more comfortable in a private home setting. Likewise, people who require highly specialized medical care best delivered in a hospital or long-term care environment may need a different type of residence. Amica London is best suited to seniors who value a premium environment, a fuller hospitality offering, and support that is available in the background even when it is not yet needed every day.
