How we see The Redwoods Retirement Residence

A superbly well-appointed Ottawa retirement home located close to the 417 in West Ottawa. This is a lovely high-rise seniors' tower (17 floors) with great views from its balconies, and a variety of suite styles to select from. The Redwoods still feels very new and clean throughout. There are staff members who have been here since it opened. People love the flexibility of living independently in your own apartment, as in any tower, combined with the option of sharing in dining or hiring care as needed.

Few retirement options are as stable as The Redwoods. The high staff retention shows that people are happy working here, translating into great relationships with residents, who appreciate familiarity with people serving them. Staff readily remember names and personal preferences. Because serving staff, nursing staff, and personal support workers (PSWs) have often worked together for years, that benefits communication and the overall community.

The Redwoods offers care up to assisted living, with dressing, bathing and feeding included. The Ottawa Ikea is nearby, as are banks, churches and a variety of health care services. Kids from local schools drop in for day visits and interact with residents through activities like a reading buddy program. For all of the friendliness and great care, there are also a wealth of exciting amenities, including a heated indoor saltwater pool, a pub, wellness areas, and more.

For seniors who have had a health scare, or who simply want to make housework a thing of the past, it's an excellent choice: a friendly community of peers in a building that's a safe, warm, and wonderful place to live. It's ideal for Ottawa-area seniors who want the best in life, living in community with other seniors, close to family in Kanata, Nepean, or elsewhere in the west end of Ottawa.

  For the last several years, I have been enjoying the special events at the Redwoods.

  They are always different fun and so well-planned.

  I love these fun times an your staff makes everyone feel so welcome -

  Like a “going home” when you are a child!

   

  My friends and I have toured the Redwoods. I was most impressed with the suites.

  They are spacious, bright and airy, pale, soothing colors on the walls.

  Never would you have a boxed in feeling if you were moving from a bigger living space.

Programs & Activities

My name is Cameron Spence and I am the Executive Director at The Redwoods Retirement Residence and have had the privilege of working here since 2008. The Redwoods opened in 1998 and we are fortunate to still have some of our original residents!

We offer a unique living experience as a former apartment building – I’ve yet to see a retirement residence in Ottawa with the array of one and two bedroom suites, complete with full kitchens that we boast at The Redwoods! That said, the real difference maker to me is the people. Our residents are warm and inviting to newcomers and make the transition into The Redwoods very easy. Many of our staff members have been here for over 10 years, which is not very common in most residences. Our staff understand that this is your home – we are here to help you enjoy each day as part of a larger sense of community.

On behalf of myself, our staff and our wonderful residents, I hope that you will come in for a visit to see everything that The Redwoods has to offer!
