Our Perspective

How we see Saints Peter and Paul Retirement Residence

This is more like a warm home than anything else, where you'll feel welcomed when you're new, and special once you've settled in. Staff is noted for kindness combined with professionalism. Hominess might be the hallmark of Sts. Peter and Paul Residence. This is exemplified best, perhaps, in the hub of community life, the Great Hall. Here, you can sit and chat with friends, watch TV, play a game, or just read quietly, while you bask in the warmth of the sunshine streaming in through the generous windows here.

From the moment you set foot in Sts. Peter and Paul Residence, you'll feel an overwhelming sense of warmth and comfort. This charitable, non-profit community in the heart of Scarborough offers both tradition and character in spades. While comfort is built into the surroundings, it's richly intensified by the kindliness of staff – and fellow community members.

The residence is occasionally livened up by special gatherings and celebrations, ranging from UA Independence Day (celebrated every August) to St. Nicholas Day, celebrated in traditional style. There are also other highlights during the year that may include things like a visit from the animals of the local petting farm. Regularly scheduled activities include Zumba classes, Bingo, exercise classes, laughter yoga, and other fun things. Fellowship is also found in worship times together and activities like sing-alongs. The dining room, too, is focused on creating the right ambience, where friends enjoy a great meal with friends, three times a day.

The location is wonderful, just off the 401 in the heart of Scarborough, where family will find it very convenient to visit and get together for an afternoon. Bus service takes you to local shopping. Grocery shopping can be found less than a mile away. Scarborough Town Centre, also less than a mile away, features over 230 stores. The neighbourhood is blessed with rich greenspace.

COVID-19 Information

At the core of our mission there is a deep, commitment to the well-being and safety of our beloved residents. This dedication was put to the ultimate test during the unprecedented challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the countless obstacles in our path, we persevered and we triumphed. For nearly two whole years, we held steadfast in our resolve to keep our home a haven untouched by the virus up to January of 2022. To date we have not lost a resident to COVID.
One of the key pillars of our success was the remarkable transformation of our greenhouse into a Visitors Centre; a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. In this visionary space, families and loved ones found a refuge where they could bridge the physical divide and nourish the bonds that unite us all.
The days may have been long and the nights even longer, but through it all, one truth remained firm – our unwavering dedication to those in our care. And as we look back on those tumultuous times with pride and gratitude, we stand tall, knowing that we did everything in our power to protect, to nurture, and to cherish those who call our home their own.
