Our Perspective

How we see Park Place Retirement Residence

Park Place Retirement Residence gives seniors a safe, calm life in Woodstock’s north end. A lot of rooms overlook Victoria Park, open greenspace across the street that helps create a peaceful mood. The residence’s stately, well-cared-for exterior gives you a hint of the care and attention seniors get inside. Residents of Park Place are treated with dignity. This residence pays attention to heart, mind, and soul. For example, there’s a schedule of activities every day. Dining here is done very well, with healthy portions of entrees residents enjoy.

The backbone of life here is the diligent staff. Their resilience was particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they stepped up and kept residents not only safe, but engaged and informed. They treat residents with love, combining qualities of responsiveness with compassion for those in their care. Little things like clean rooms and kind words are an everyday part of life at Park Place. You’ll find it comforting here, and like others, you’ll call it a “good place to be.”

Community’s Perspective

How Park Place Retirement Residence sees itself

Who are you as a community?

Park Place Retirement Residence is centrally located in the heart of downtown Woodstock, Ontario, in a quiet, residential neighbourhood overlooking Victoria Park. The property was originally built in 1844 as two separate homes for the Mayor of Woodstock. In the 1970s, the buildings were converted into a hotel and eventually combined and renovated to create Park Place. We are known for our homelike atmosphere, delicious food and helpful staff. As well, we offer a variety of activities for our residents to enjoy. Our comfortable lounges and friendly cafés located on each floor provide the perfect environment for socializing, watching a movie – or playing a game of pool. Park Place is more than a residence – it’s a community.

The staff work hard to put residents needs above all else, making sure the residents and in a safe and clean environment. During the outbreaks, it was hard on the residents who could not visit with anyone. The staff and management made sure everyone was well cared for in the highest manner. "

"I am related to a resident there and I can’t say enough how wonderful this place is for my family member. I am always hearing how much she is loved and cared for there, the meals are nutritious and a great variety and many fun activities to do. The staff is just wonderful. They are quick on their feet but always have time to care for the residents and make them feel special. The care that goes into the cleanliness of their rooms and making sure they have everything they need is top notch. I ap..."

Diane Vanmeer, family member

"We can't thank the people enough for the caring attitude of all the staff. They check in on him, offer assistance, and have lots of activities to make their day brighter. Its also a beautiful property. However, what makes the difference is their lovely caring people. You can tell when they love their very difficult job. Our whole family appreciates the care they give our Dad (Jim). "
