This is the kind of place where people will discover how great senior living can be. The expertise behind this project will help create a community where people make friends, form bonds and enjoy life in a group of senior peers. Those who have lived alone will find that they make great friends with others and learn to enjoy life anew. You really will find it nice to have people your same age just outside the door, people who want to be with you. You’ll also discover that your interests expand. Consider the possibility that some of your best days might still be ahead of you. We have seen many people’s lives improve immensely in places like Carp Commons.
Chartwell Stonehaven offers a fulfilling, rich life. Chartwell’s reputation as an industry leader is based on everything you’ll find here, including completely contemporary design and décor both internally and externally, all the amenities you can want, and a caring community made up of both staff and residents. And still, there are distinctly excellent aspects of Chartwell Stonehaven.
My parents moved into the Carp Commons in October of 2023. It was a major transition for them however, both Rebekah and Pat were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make them feel welcome. Both my mom and dad are very pleased with the care, maintenance, and attention to detail that all staff show towards the upkeep of Carp Commons. The dining room is bright and beautifully decorated for each sitting. The dining staff makes a concerted effort to get to know the residents and their culinary preferences. The admin and front desk staff are so welcoming and kind to both visitors and residents - greeting everyone with a smile. I am very pleased with the extra-curricular offerings for seniors such as Chair Yoga and low-impact fitness - my parents are really enjoying those specifically! Carp Commons offers top notch care blending country charm location with urban amenities either onsite or nearby.
A retirement home is only as good as its director of care and staff and Colin Ferguson and his staff are amazing. He quickly and efficiently deals with any concerns (which are few). He is very accessible and very present at all times. My mom has settled very well considering there is a language barrier which we were very concerned about. She is well cared for in the dementia wing with only 11 residents living there so it is a very intimate, high ratio of care staff to residents. We are so lucky to have found such a good placement for our mom and have peace of mind knowing she is well looked after.
From day one my father-in-law has found a comfortable and welcoming home at Carp Commons. His accommodations are inviting and of high quality. He receives excellent personal and medical support and care. The programs and facilities are top-notch. Visitors are equally welcomed as members of the Carp Commons family. The staff members are all exceptionally friendly, and the general atmosphere is uplifting and peaceful. All of us, including our father the resident, could not be happier with our decision to make Carp Commons a part of our lives.
Carp Commons is an amazing place! My mother-in-law moved in December 2023 and she loves it. She loves that the staff are all so friendly and helpful. Her studio room is just the perfect size! She loves the food each day! I can't thank Rebekah, Jill, Collins, Charlotte, and the rest of the staff enough I was worried about this transition and everyone has stepped up and made it delightful. All the residents are amazing and so friendly and helpful as well.
I am currently a resident at Carp Commons and am thoroughly enjoying the adventure. I came at a time when I thought I was okay and made my own decision. I learned that my health was not as good as I thought. Being here brought me to a state of soooo much better health, it even amazes me. The staff here are so pleasant and I find so patient with not only me but everyone. They make you feel like you are a 'somebody'. The food is excellent when the Chef can get what he orders from the distributor. Everyone knows your name--literally. The one complaint that some people have is that there are too many activities to choose from! They must now make a decision. Everyone listens to your suggestions and are willing to help you get things set up. Being a former Co-op teacher I had occasion to go to many Retirement Homes and saw the condition of many of them. Carp Commons is so far ahead of all of them. From the moment you walk in the front door people are smiling, residents are doing things. There is a hive of activity. I highly recommend Carp Commons to all my friends and anybody else who will listen.
My mother decided to move to Kanata from Montreal after my father died in 2022. When she arrived she had a sudden health crisis and I had to quickly find a residence for her. We had visited Stonehaven before and I went in to see if they had room. From the second I walked in the help I received was overwhelming. We were able to arrange for her to move in a week later and get the care she needed to recover, and for me to be able to keep going. Mom has been there for 6 months now and is adjusting well, she also has access to a doctor - no small thing in 2023. She has new friends and enjoys the woods in the area and is looking forward to using the courtyard in better weather. All of the staff are outstanding. I cannot thank them enough, they made a tough time so much easier.
Having lived in our family home in Kanata for 50 years my wife died and our children and grandchildren had all moved to their own homes I was left in our house alone . This was not a pleasant way of life ! On the advice of a home-visiting nurse who had treated my wife I moved to Stonehaven Retirement Residence . This made a vast improvement to my life ! I was warmly welcomed by the staff and by a few friends who were already living there . Many of the staff had been there for years and were adept at handling the problems of elderly residents . The food was good , plentiful with a vast variety of options always available . The variety of accommodation was impressive , all units had ample closet space and good private bathrooms . Plenty of activities to suit most tastes were always available, with professional entertainers coming frequently (except during the virus period) . A qualified nurse and a nursing assistant are on duty 24 hours a day and each day of the year. A bus is permanently present to take residents to many attractions, picnics, shopping areas and other facilities. There is an enclosed open-air area in the center of the residence where we can sit peacefully in a pleasant garden . During the whole Covid virus period of disruptions no Stonehaven resident caught the virus or any of its variations - the staff kept us well protected ! ! ! They should be proud and congratulated for this achievement . I am completely satisfied that I moved from living alone to this residence .
My mom has been a resident at the Chartwell Stonehaven Seniors Residence since July 2021. It has been a very positive experience thus far and I have no doubt it will continue to be a positive experience moving forward. The residence is beautifully maintained! It is clean , bright and welcoming! The staff is exceptional! The director of the residence sets a very positive tone and the staff follow suit! The people who run Stonehaven are dynamic, caring, loving, fun and genuinely interested in working with seniors! Their sincerity shows! They have been diligent and thorough in respecting all guidelines during this pandemic! They have made the safety of the residents the number one priority and as a result they have not had any issues with cases of Covid or variants! My mom feels very safe here and I have peace of mind!
We helped my mother and father-in-law relocate to Chartwell Stonehaven in the middle of Covid. Even though logistics were difficult due to covid, the staff were incredibly helpful and understanding. The facility is bright, clean and spacious. Staff are helpful and kind. I would recommend this home for anyone searching for a senior's residence.
Stonehaven was our Mum’s home for over 3 years and during that time we were always very satisfied with all aspects of the residence. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, very attentive to individual needs and Mum always complimented the food. Before the pandemic our Mum enjoyed the social activities and especially the frequent outings and shopping trips. During the pandemic, Stonehaven did everything “by the book” with an extra dose of caution, and thankfully remained COIVD-free. As restrictions lifted our Mum again enjoyed walking the well-kept grounds and the neighbourhood, including the beautiful forest across the street. Recommending Stonehaven comes without reservation — until her needs recently changed, Stonehaven was ideal.

Situated in the well-established Bridlewood area of Kanata—a planned community that’s one of the fastest-growing cities in Ontario—Chartwell Stonehaven is easily accessible via major roadways and just minutes from downtown Ottawa. You can walk your dog in Deevy Pines Park, or appreciate the convenience of a medical clinic, pharmacy and restaurants all next door. Our residence is only a short drive from many urban amenities, including restaurants, big-box stores, cinemas, libraries and the Kanata Golf and Country Club. Two major malls offer prime shopping; sports fans love attending Ottawa Senators games at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata; and those who take pleasure in artistic and cultural pursuits enjoy the Ron Maslin Playhouse, art galleries and live theatre. We also offer regular outings to both Ottawa and Valley attractions, as the city is only minutes away, while we also border the quieter outskirts of town.
