It also deserves recognition as the safest, most ideal environment possible for seniors suffering from dementia. The environment is mentally stimulating, with people engaging in golf, bingo and many other inter-activities with companions who are "in the same boat."

Perhaps the best thing about Park Place is the location, so close to downtown Ottawa. There are gardens outside, parks not far away, and the nearby Experimental Farm is a unique part of the community's environment. Not far away, there are shopping centres and restaurants, then the downtown core and the many sights to see and things to do there. People love the very wide range of services that are available both within Park Place and close by.

In September 2020, we moved my 93-year old mother to Forest Valley, as her cognitive decline and mobility issues made it very difficult for us to manage her continuing care. We feel fortunate to have found this wonderful and welcoming place and my mother has transitioned well to the facility, thanks to the very thoughtful and caring staff who do everything possible for the residents. I think it is a testimony to their dedication and perseverance that despite the challenges posed by the Covid crisis, appropriate measures were instituted to safeguard the facility and residents from the virus (no cases here, whereas other seniors residences were hit hard). Even though these measures meant restricted access to loved ones, the staff have also done their best to link families via Zoom calls so that we can keep in contact and be aware of the activities and enrichment programs offered to our loved ones. We offer our highest recommendation for the quality care provided by the floor staff and management of Forest Valley.

After researching different facilities with my siblings, we decided to enroll our mom at Forest Valley Terrace. We definitely made the right decision. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating, and our mom loves living there! She has multiple activities that she participates in on a daily basis and all her meals are chef-prepared. Our mom (who is fairly shy) has also made several friends with the other residents. Every time I've contacted Forest Valley Terrace with a question or concern the staff have dealt with my issue immediately. Great staff, great food, great facility! And one of the few long-term care facilities that has never had a single case of Covid. We are so lucky that our mom is living at Forest Valley Terrace!

My husband moved to Forest Valley mid February of this year [2020]. It was their [specialization] in Memory Care that convinced us that they could provide both the care and stimulation he requires - and we haven’t been disappointed. I worried about his transition to new surroundings (which can be especially difficult for those suffering from dementia) but I’m convinced it’s been the right decision.

Food is wonderful and the staff really care for my grandma. I see the compassion and patience they give all the residents here and it gives me great peace of mind. The staff remembers small things like making sure my grandma has a bib when she’s eating or giving her warm water instead of cold. Thank you all so much! You are so appreciated.

Living in a retirement home gives you more freedom, more things to do, more people to be with. Since I came to Park Place, I meet people every day, my apartment is huge, there is a pond to walk around, the experimental farm is beside me, I have a patio and face the street so I am living in a housing community, stores are near me, I could not ask for more! [And the staff here] are so kind, they can’t meet your needs enough. If you were in there you would say WOW, the staff does everything they can for you.

My mother resides in this home and I can’t say enough good things. The food is great, the care is amazing but the most important thing is how they’re handling COVID. After they noticed the effect of March lockdown on seniors, they realize [that] family are what will get seniors through the pandemic. Myself and my brothers have visited and cared for our mother every day since late April. Other seniors’ families are also allowed to care for their seniors. We are provided with PPE, Hand sanitizers, everything. They know family have every right to enter their loved one's home. Park Place follows the directives and Resident Bill of Rights.

My sister in law lives there. Modern and well maintained.

My mother recently moved in and it's been fantastic for the first month. Nothing but great things to say. Highly recommended for somebody taking the step onto the next chapter of their lives.
