The Village Langley is a state-of-the-art memory care community, an ideal setting for people dealing with the adverse effects of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. They can live here safely, free to come and go wherever they like within The Village. Family members' worries about tendencies to elopement evaporate. But there's so much more. Residents live a lifestyle that promotes more activity and requires less medication. The environment itself is a holistic treatment.
VRS is driven by a mission to make excellent senior living affordable. That’s manifested in Sunnyside Manor, an intimate, comfortable community with very reasonable fees. It’s a bright, cheerful place to settle into and enjoy life with people your own age, attended to by staff and management with a reputation for responsiveness and considerate care.
The staff and services are AMAZING, especially given the lockdown due to the Pandemic, the residents are truly lucky to make this place their home. So glad we found them for my Mom, I honestly can not think of a better place for her through this time.
My aunt lives there. She has the best care and is super happy.
My aunt was lucky to become one of the first residents here, and I have visited often. This is a truly groundbreaking facility and the staff are as patient and friendly as you'd hope for. I have noted the postings by others who are upset by the cost of living at The Village; asking "who can afford to live here?" and suggesting it is only for the elite. While I could not afford to live here, that is due to my particular circumstances and life choices. My aunt can afford to live here for many years to come, but I want to share her story and show others that living like this is not reserved just for the wealthy. Auntie M. and her family were sent to live in a BC internment camp during the war, when she was just a young girl. She left, barely into her teens; left her family and left school to return to the Lower Mainland to toil as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. She made this sacrifice to send money back to her parents and siblings. Later, after the war ended and everyone moved back to the Lower Mainland, Auntie M. found work in the Steveston cannery. She never completed her schooling; having to still help her parents and siblings and with little education, working in the cannery was what she could do. But, she was wise with her money, saved up, and bought a house. This house and her very dedicated savings are what allows her to enjoy life in the wonderful The Village now and for years to come. I am so happy that this amazing woman, who did hard physical work her whole life, sacrificed her youth and her education, is thriving at The Village due to her own self taught money management efforts. So to those who are affronted and snidely suggest that a community like The Village is an elitist utopian ideal, I suggest otherwise. Yes, it is costly but it is worth every penny for the high quality of care, the beautiful atmosphere and the priceless dignity with which residents are permitted to live. I couldn't recommend it enough!
We couldn't be more happy with the level of specialized dementia care and understanding provided by all the staff at the Village.
We recently moved our mother into Sunnyside. From the first tour through to now our experience has been nothing but positive. Management and staff are quick to respond and accommodate our requests/needs Staff makes it a friendly and welcoming environment. The building is clean and has a homelike comfortable vibe. We feel Sunnyside is using an abundance of caution when it comes to health and safety keeping mom safe. Update: Our mother has now been here over two years now. We have spent much time there, more in common areas than mom’s suite. We’ve gotten to know all the staff and most residents. You can sum Sunnyside up like this. Sunnyside can be your loved one’s residence, or it can become their community, or it can become family. You get out of it what you want to put in. We love being a part of the Sunnyside family. The manager has a real heart for people and her staff has years of experience.
Mom moved into Sunnyside Manor in November 2019. Shortly after her move, there was a change in management and the noticeable shift that has happened since is quite remarkable. New programs were implemented within the confines of Covid and adjustments were made to make life easier for the residents. Personally this really helped me feel better about mom being there since I live far away and visitation was restricted. Dealing with the shifting restrictions we experienced during 2020 and continue to through 2021, is a testament to the care brought to Sunnyside Manor residents and staff by their management team. The menu has improved significantly! It’s obvious Chef Louise and the kitchen team really care that the residents have delicious and healthy meals and are introducing new food items to keep things interesting and adventurous. A big change. I also appreciate the additional information sessions introduced to the residents on healthcare, new food item introductions, insurance, etc. as well as activities (art and tai chi!) to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing. I feel these sessions help with the residents feeling active and engaged in life. I enjoy seeing photos and updates on the activities on their Facebook page every day! I would recommend Sunnyside Manor to anyone looking for a retirement community for their family member! [They've made] mom's life easier.
I visit a friend here and I must say the quality and care they staff put into the place is amazing. The activities were well planned and the food is really good. Very impressed that the in house chef made food which also caters to dietary restrictions. My friend is very happy here.
Sunnyside Manor has vastly improved under the change in management [in 2021] as evident by the thriving residents and happier staff! Food has improved immensely as they've introduced fresh produce and improved their menu significantly. You can tell the staff really care about the well being of their residents by providing additional informational sessions and activities to improve their health and fitness. Sunnyside also has close ties to Harmony Health and other healthcare providers in the immediate area to provide those with more complex medical needs with the help they deserve, which is a huge bonus. I would recommend anyone looking for a new home to look at Sunnyside Manor. The team there will take care of all your needs.
I was inquiring about a place for my father to live and the staff were very friendly and assisted me greatly. I am very excited to have found this home for my dad.
