Mulberry PARC

Our Perspective

stories

For all of the features onsite, it's the people that make this truly great. Mulberry PARC broadcasts itself as "a welcoming community" and that's truly a focus. The knitting group is just one example of a friendship circle (a "great group of ladies," says one member) within the larger community. Ideal for families from Burnaby and New Westminster, and for seniors who want to be closer to family here, it's a spectacular retirement home experience. Here, it's easy to pursue previous passions or try out new interests.

This is a superb retirement community in the heart of Burnaby for independent seniors who want to feel rejuvenated and revitalized. PARC is the maker of numerous excellent retirement communities throughout the Greater Vancouver area, and Mulberry is a fine example of their work in a prime suburban location.

Interior amenities include a fireplace lounge, library and billiards room, along with a spa. There's an elegantly appointed main floor dining room, serving chef-prepared meals and desserts. You'll love the spacious patio on the outdoor terrace, ideal for summer visits with family, to play chess with the giant chess set, or to just sit out and bask in the sunshine. Suites are decorated in very tasteful colours and styles, with spectacular views of the city; included are spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers and other modern features ideal for seniors.

Reviews of Mulberry PARC

Dorothy, resident
"We keep very busy here. When people say they're bored, it's because they're not doing anything. Here, there's always something to do."

Marie, resident
"[Knitting-For-A-Cause, one weekly group] is a wonderful social time ... [some members] would say to me they hadn't knit in years and I decided to change that. It brings them out of their suites and out of their shells. Their disposition improves."

Donna, resident
"There's lot to do here. I really appreciate the flexibility and freedom here because I've always been very busy in my life."

Dining

Our talented culinary teams thrive on creating a daily array of menu choices that are full of flavour and variety. Our Executive Chefs come from high-end hotels and restaurants and you’ll see their passion for food and hospitality come through in the delicious food they prepare everyday. Menu options don’t come down in a cookie-cutter approach from head office. At each residence, the Executive Chef and their culinary teams plan, prep and create their menu options to fit the tastes of their unique communities. Menus are designed around whole grains, fresh produce (some grown onsite in our own gardens), the right amount of protein and plenty of nutrients. In addition to regular well-balanced foods, we’re pleased to offer PARC SMART portion-controlled entrees which are low in sodium, saturated fat and concentrated sugars.

General Manager's Message
Michael Traquair

Michael has over 20 years of experience in hospitality management. He transitioned to the seniors living industry in 2012 because he wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of seniors. Michaels says that helping them live life to the fullest has been a tremendously enriching experience for him.

Fun fact: while working as a chef at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in 2002, Michael was chosen to cook for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II!

Michael enjoys playing and coaching children’s hockey, cooking, and fishing and hunting in the outdoors.

COVID-19 Information

The pandemic has been a tough time for seniors and their loved ones across Canada. But through it all, Mulberry PARC (along with all PARC communities) has stayed ahead of the curve, keeping our residents safe and healthy, and our communities COVID-19-free.

This is partly thanks to our well-trained team, who quickly and proactively implemented provincial government health-and-safety protocols. But independent retirement communities like PARC are also uniquely positioned to keep residents safe during a pandemic, with multiple layers of defense already in place, from onsite wellness nurses to established sanitization and emergency protocols. As well, we offer chef-prepared meals, weekly suite housekeeping, and private transportation – lifelines when busy grocery stores and public spaces pose risks to seniors.

To protect our residents from COVID-19, we've implemented extra sanitization, physical distancing, mandatory face masks for employees, free resources for residents to shop, and socialize online and family meet-up centres with plexiglass barriers and virus-prevention filtration systems.

Mulberry PARC is as committed as ever to creating safe, independent, respectful, and healthy communities for our residents.
