What do you do differently or uniquely well?

Livita Queens Avenue is more than a place to stay-we are a lovely community to call home. We ensure our residents are active, healthy, and living life to the fullest. We ensure your dining experience will be a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The culinary team harvests herbs from our garden,and we try to incorporate local Ontario products whenever possible. Our chef’s exceptional menus are suited to your preferences and full of variety. Each five-course evening meal includes a choice of two delicious entrees. We have a well-rounded activity and entertainment program along with regular outings. An exceptional outdoor property is well-used all year with many activities, seating areas, gardening areas, entertainment peaceful enjoyment.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

We offer many on-site services to make our residents feel right at home. As a crucial part of our Live Balanced, Live Better philosophy, our Enhanced Living Program is dedicated to promoting your mental and physical well-being. Our Oakville residence offers a mix of packages from bundled to optional à la carte services. We can cater our programs to your specific needs and adapt to changes. Our Management Team have a goal: to ensure your transition is easy and pleasant, and each Manager ensures this by meeting you personally and helping you to a smooth understanding of your new surroundings, activities, choices-and new friends.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

We are supportive of families bringing in private or referred psw/caregiver support. We also have a visiting physician, in-house pharmacy and pharmacist, physiotherapist, Dentist, Denturist, foot care nurse and other providers as needed.
Regular Care Plans are done by our Wellness Manager along with family and resident, to determine what support is needed and to refer for the professionals to attend any resident who needs further enhancement. The LHIN provides services at Queens as well, and assessments and support to families is also available. We have Pastoral care, visiting Priest and palliative care Nurses.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

Queens is a warm and cosy, family-oriented residence, that accepts people as they change and as an 'age in place' residence, we do welcome all kinds of people and provide flexible care as people develop. We have a diverse and experienced staff that accept people as they are today, and as they grow forward. Our values are such that we remain compassionate and caring to all. Those who are less accepting may need an alternate environment to Queens.

Ontario's healthcare indicates that within 10 years, the major need will be for assisted living and more advanced care, along with staffing to support this growing need. At Queens we are already preparing for this with expanded care, ever-growing recruitment, association with local Colleges to provide student placements, investing in specialized equipment and in forward thinking with regard to programs and the continuing education of existing staff.
