Our Perspective

How we see Queens Estate Retirement Residence - Metta Lifestyles

Queens Estate is an exceptionally well-organized care community, given its newness. We think that comes from Metta Lifestyles’ decades of experience offering senior care. Here, you’ll find a cosy, familiar environment, comforting to those needing assistance or dealing with symptoms of dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease. It’s unique among area retirement homes in offering of a range of care options. Aside from personal assistance and memory care, the variety of stay options includes convalescent and guest stays as well as the provision for hiring your own home care. They're welcoming and flexible.

Tour, and you’ll see how the comfortable setting encourages people to feel relaxed, make friends, and make this their home. We love the generous lounge spaces found throughout the building, ideal places to sit and enjoy the company of others or just relax. Staff is an important part of the friendly atmosphere, also offering kind words and warm greetings to everyone they meet. One other unique aspect of this community is the ease of access from throughout the GTA, thanks to its close proximity to the 401 and the 400 as well as the nearby GO Station.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

Queens Estate is more heavily known for our Metta Memory Program and how our Residents are integrated within each level of care.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

Moving into a memory care community is a big step for both residents and their families. That’s why we take a calm, personal approach from the very beginning. We spend time getting to know each resident—their routines, preferences, and personal history—so we can create a sense of familiarity right away. Our team gently introduces daily rhythms, spaces, and people, helping residents feel safe, recognized, and included. Just as importantly, we support families through that transition as well, so everyone feels informed, reassured, and connected.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

As needs change, we adjust support within our continuum of care, without disrupting the sense of home that residents have built here. We work closely with families to revisit care plans and make thoughtful, respectful adjustments. Because our approach is flexible and our team already knows each resident well, those changes can feel seamless. Our goal is always the same—to provide the right level of support while maintaining comfort, dignity, and a strong sense of belonging.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

Queens Estate isn’t the right fit for someone looking for an independent lifestyle with minimal support or involvement from staff. Our community is designed specifically for individuals who benefit from memory care and a supportive, engaged environment. We’re at our best when we can provide both care and connection—supporting residents in a way that helps them feel safe, included, and valued every day.

What might residents find surprising about your community?

Many people are surprised by how much life and engagement they see here. While they may expect a focus on care, what stands out is the sense of community—residents participating in daily activities, enjoying shared spaces like our dining room or gardens, and being part of something meaningful.
Families are also pleased with the effect of our high staffing ratios and the personalized care that results. The warmth, compassion, and energy here reflects a belief that every stage of life should include moments of joy and connection.

How will your community change in the next five years?

Looking ahead, we’ll continue to build on the strength of our memory care approach, deepening the ways we support residents through personalized care, meaningful programming, and a thoughtfully designed environment. We evolve by listening to residents and families, and finding new ways to enhance comfort, engagement, and quality of life. Our focus is always on creating a place where people feel secure, respected, and truly at home.

What five facts about your community should people know?

Our Metta Memory Program is focused on dignity, familiarity, and engagement.
Our approach is resident-centred, celebrating each senior’s life story and abilities.
Our community includes thoughtfully designed spaces, from inviting dining areas to outdoor gardens.
We’re part of the Metta Lifestyles family, with a strong focus on comfort, care, and connection.
Our continuum of care includes assisted living, and our support easily evolves as residents’ needs change.

"My mother has been living at Queen’s Estate for the past 1.5 years and was recently accepted at long-term care. She is 80 years old, has dementia and is exit-seeking. The staff have been really great here. They have been professional and have communicated very well about my mother’s needs. You can see that the ladies who took care of my mother really cared about her. I felt that my mother was safe in this place, and I would recommend it for anyone with an elderly parent who needs extra care ..."

Testimonials and Stories

  • My mother has lived on the memory care floor at Queens Estate for nine months and is very well taken

My mother has lived on the memory care floor at Queens Estate for nine months and is very well taken care of every day. The staff are kind and friendly and everyone from the PSWs who care for her to the chef in the kitchen know my mother and treat her with kindness and respect. Queens Estate was wonderful about procuring the covid vaccine and boosters in a timely fashion and maintains excellent hygiene to protect the health of all its residents. Most importantly, since moving in, my mother has been calm and content. There are many activities including art and music which she enjoys very much. Our family would strongly recommend Queen's Estate.

  • Staff were angels

My mother was at Queens Estate for nearly two years (she was one of the first to move in after their opening). Staff were fabulous/angels. Adam, Tenzin and Vivian were particularly helpful though there were many others that should be recognized (I don't recall all of their names). Residents who had moved in from other retirement homes said that Queens Estate was an improvement for them. We used a consultant during our search for a home. The staff try really hard to come up with interesting activities to get the residents involved even during lockdown. You can see photos of this on the FB page. The blended model of support that respects the needs of residents is very helpful.

  • The staff are amazingly helpful

Our father was a resident for 2 months while waiting for a placement in Long Term Care. Even though it was understood that Dad was only there temporarily, the staff went out of their way to ensure he was well supported, had a detailed care plan in place, and had his daily needs met. The staff are amazingly helpful, responsive to our questions and queries, and really patient with Dad. They are amazing! The building is also very pleasant - freshly renovated and furnished - with attention to details tied to the well-being of residents. When Dad left, the staff all gathered to say goodbye and wish him well. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

  • My mom started living again at 93 when she went to Queens Estate!

My mom started living again at 93 when she went to Queens Estate. She is constantly dancing and singing. She loves the food and the staff are so patient and accommodating. It takes a lot of pressure off me when I saw how happy she is. She's making new friends as well as becoming acquainted with old friends.
I would definitely recommend Queens Estate to anyone.
