This appeals to people with progressive ideas about what a seniors’ retirement community ought to be like. Independently run, this community responds flexibly to the needs of residents. There’s an experimental aspect to this community that promises to make it open-ended in an ongoing basis, ideal for Bradford residents who are as progressive-minded as this retirement home's builders.
One of several new developments in the city of Bradford, this project offers a leading-edge development for seniors in the area. The Elden of Bradford offers superior independent living closer to home, for people who may have previously felt the need to move to Newmarket or even further into the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).
While meals and housekeeping will be part of the services here, the Elden of Bradford is focused on building a vibrant community, as seen in higher quality seniors’ communities throughout the GTA.
We asked The Elden of Bradford to answer the following questions:
Who are you as a community?
Voted Bradford's Favourite Retirement Residence 2 years in a row! The Elden brings a fresh approach to retirement living. This beautiful residence is tailored for the “young-at-heart” senior. We respect that our elder population is doing things differently; doing things their way. So we are doing things differently as well. In fact, we like to think of it as UN-Retirement Living. As a smaller, privately-owned company, we have the flexibility to adapt as our community grows.
What do you do differently or uniquely well?

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

"My mother loves it here! She calls me a few time a week to let me know what she's been up to and all the new friends she's making. It's the happiest we have seen her in years. Thank you to all the staff for making my mother feel comfortable in her new home.

"My mother has been a resident at The Elden for 3 months now and she is very happy. We were referred to this place by our neighbour. It was a big decision for her to give up her home. My sisters and I know she's in the best place she can be. The staff are very helpful and kind to her.

"One thing really impressed me [when I toured] is that there's so much light in here. There's a lot of windows here. In the dining room [there are] two walls that are completely all windows. That really hit home. I felt very comfortable right from the beginning. The staff here are absolutely fantastic. Everybody's [addressed] by their first name. It makes you quite comfortable. My total feeling is that I feel safe and cared for here. [August 2021]"
