Our Perspective

How we see The Roxborough Retirement Residence - Verve Senior Living

Seniors and family members agree that the Roxborough renews people's enjoyment of life. That begins with the reinvigoration of moving into a clean, still-new place—but that’s deepened by the day-to-day environment here. It's a revelation to people how great life can be in a place where they’re surrounded by fellow seniors and service-minded staff.

A highlight of life here is the rich social life you can participate in every day. There are musical offerings in the parlour, delicious spreads of chef-prepared food, and activities like strawberry socials. Some of the residents' favourite activities include a cocktail hour, the gardening club, and religious services in-house. In the dining room, there's an opportunity to eat with a variety of other residents and deepen friendships every day. This works together to create the vibrant social life you’ll see on display here. Throughout the community, you'll find residents engaged in casual, happy conversations. It's obvious, then, that this feels like home to them.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

We offer a buddy system to link new residents with those who have called The Roxborough home for some time. Managers and staff pop in to welcome those just arriving, and members of our Life Enrichment Team interview new residents to identify hobbies and interests and match them with activities on offer. Family are widely encouraged to spend time with their loved ones and join us for meals and events such as our monthly buffet brunches.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

At The Roxborough, residents can continue living comfortably even as their needs evolve. The residence offers independent living with supportive services that can be added as required, including personal assistance and wellness support. Access to professional healthcare services and respite options allows care to increase in a coordinated way, while residents remain in the familiar surroundings of their suite and community.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

The Roxborough is best suited to seniors who value independent living within a supportive and socially engaged community. Ron Gerston, resident

"My wife Angela and I moved into the Roxborough in Dec 2023. We are an active couple and weren’t sure if this was right for us. However, the staff and residents welcomed us warmly, and we have made a lot of friends here. Activities are many and far-reaching, something for everyone. Some activities include social events, special outings, live entertainment, movies, and of course, Bingo…all keep you as busy as you like or not. We have travelled extensively and have eaten in some outstanding ven..."

Marion Roberts, visitor or friend

"I was very fortunate to have such a positive experience during my rehab at The Roxborough in April of this year. It is spear headed by Melanie. Melanie was in contact with me from setting the initial meeting to explain what was offered and allowed me to put my possessions in early to accommodate my surgery schedule. The staff on a whole were also very polite as was my case with the night attendants. Bringing more ice at night and adding a couple of cookies to tide me over. I would highly recomme..."

Barrett Greenhow, resident

"My wife Joyce and I moved into the Roxy in August and couldn't be more satisfied. Where does one start ? The staff are without exception - Fabulous ! The food is 5 star all the way as at each meal you always get options; is always the freshest imaginable; always served on linen table cloths; is changed after each person is finished dining and includes the nicest wait staff possible. Add to this, you can dine on your schedule ( with -in certain hours ) and choose to sit with new friends each meal..."

Testimonials and Stories

  • Thank You

I would like to express a warm and appreciative “Thank you” to all who are employed by The Roxborough. Whoever has assisted directly with my needs or anyone behind the scenes. I realize it’s a team effort. You all come together very efficiently with compassion and empathy towards, not only myself, but from what I have observed, to all of us.
It was very difficult for me to make the quick and drastic transition from living in my home independently to being in a retirement home setting. I would like to mention that you all have helped in making me feel welcomed. With your warm smiles, kind tone and mild mannered way you have given me direction when I needed it. I realize it’s not an easy task, but all of you do it so well. Please don’t stop.

  • Resident Testimonial

When my wife Leslie and I decided it was time to move to a retirement residence we visited several in the area. With regards to the accommodations they offered we found very little difference. However as soon as we entered the Roxborough we found a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We moved in a little over a year ago and that first impression has been confirmed over and over causing us to have no regrets about our decision to choose the Roxborough.
