Our Perspective

How we see The Waterford

The Waterford is a special place that delivers all the best of contemporary retirement living. Meals are excellent, activities fun and varied. To round it all off, the people that work here and live here are the best. What people find after moving into this community is that they have space to live anew and explore the freedom that comes with retirement living. That freedom (from tiresome daily chores like dishes, housework, and home maintenance) opens up liberty to do more with your day, to make new friends and find out how great community living in a group with your peers can be.

The Waterford is an impressively open concept, welcoming community laid out in a way that’s distinctly inviting. The exterior exhibits standout architecture, with a cobblestone driveway and field-stone columns set off against emerald green siding. Inside, we loved the stone fireplace, but you might be impressed by other things such as the spaciousness or the hardwood interiors. The overwhelming impression we get on the main floor is its sheer expansiveness. There’s room to stretch yourself wherever you go. Throughout the community, you see that people have places to sit together in small groups, or, if they so choose, to read or relax on their own.

That generosity of space and openness is also found in the suites. These are complemented by large windows, with many balconies facing outward over the courtyard. There’s multi-faceted storage space for residents to keep things. Outside, the wonderful central courtyard includes a fountain where people gather around on a sunny day. One other standout feature is the fourth floor patio, which combines bright sunshine with peaceful quietude, a great place to relax.

Community’s Perspective

How The Waterford sees itself

Who are you as a community?

The Waterford offers all-inclusive senior living in the heart of sunny Tsawwassen. It is surrounded by pedestrian pathways through a two-acre water feature and is located just steps away from the shops at the town centre. Our suites are bright, spacious and unique. Our food is exceptional, and our parties are decadent. Passionate recreation staff offer programs that encourage vibrant and active living. We offer a campus of care with both independent senior living and a licensed long-term care centre.

Our elevated dining experience sets us apart. Our red seal certified executive chef creates diverse and delicious dishes focusing on local seasonal fare. So you can join friends for a meal when it's convenient for you, and there is always something delicious on the menu.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

Adjusting to life in a new home can be challenging; that's why we're committed to a well-organized process to assist you. What might residents find surprising about your community?

Many residents are surprised to discover how easy it is to live car-free at The Waterford. We're steps away from the unique shops of Tsawwassen town centre, our beautiful walking paths, our courtesy shuttle, and our 18-passenger bus for excursions make it easy to hang up your car keys. The experience of living in sunny Tsawwassen in a setting that offers freedom and friendship is better than most people expect!

What five facts about your community should people know?

1. Age in place with our 106 independent living apartments and a 36-suite long-term care centre.
2. Easy car-free living with our proximity to the shops at Tsawwassen town centre and our courtesy shuttle for personal trips.
3. An elevated dining experience crafted by our red seal certified Executive Chef. We offer a variety of main course options and accommodate a wide variety of dietary requests.

Reviews of The Waterford

What residents and their loved ones say about The Waterford in reviews.

Ella Watts , resident

"The staff is incredible! All of them! The servers, the recreation (staff), the management, they all all work so well with one another. This became apparent [in 2020] when they all had to deliver all the meals to the residents' suites. The attitude was amazon, they would come singing. This is the kind of staff we have. I call it the wonderful world of the Waterford. "

Garry V., family member

"My mother has been a resident at the Waterford in Tsawwassen for over 7 years and we have been very happy with her care. Whenever we visit, we enjoy the food in the dining room. The staff has been friendly and helpful. We will be coming in May, hopefully to eat chocolate!"

Susan M. , family member

"My mother was recently in the care centre at the Waterford and I have nothing but admiration and gratitude for the staff who cared for her. She felt safe and had real affection for the nurses and aids involved in her care. The centre itself is comfortable and the food exceptional."

Testimonials and Stories

  • What Bria Residents Say: Alice's Story

My name is Alice Thiele; I moved into The Waterford six years this month. We lived in Tsawwassen for many may years, and my husband and I said that when it was time to move out of our home, we should move to The Waterford. And that’s said, when my husband passed away, I stayed in the house by myself for a year and came here.

I like living here; I feel safe here. And the activities. You can do whatever it is you want to do. If you want to come down for Social Hour, you can. Five mornings a week, we have exercise. Like I said, you can keep as busy as you want, or stay in your own place and do whatever you want.

I highly recommend The Waterford, I do. The beauty of The Waterford, is that we can walk wherever we want to. And we go on lots of bus trips, which is just fabulous—going to places I just wouldn’t have gone on my own.

I highly recommend The Waterford. Or really any of the Bria establishments. I’ve looked at some of the others, and they’re very, very nice. But you know, being in Tsawwassen for many, many years, this is home to me, and now THIS is my home, right here.

General Manager's Message
Matthew Jackson

Hi, I'm Matthew Jackson, I've been the General Manager here at The Waterford since January 2020, and I've been with the Bria Communities family since 2011.

I would love to welcome you into our home. Our staff time is second to none and will make you feel like you're part of the family. Chef Matt and his team are cooking up delicious meals in our kitchen, and you'll especially enjoy their culinary creations on special occasions.

We have lots of fun, and our recreation team specializes in parties, events and social hours that will make you laugh, sing along, and create lots of special memories.

We offer two types of supportive senior housing: independent living and a 24 hour licensed Care Centre. You and your family will be able to rest assured, knowing you're in an environment that gives you the freedom to be yourself, with the safety and support of a loving community.

I hope you'll come by for a tour and discover life at The Waterford. Feel free to drop me a line any time: [email protected]
