We at Comfort Life are proud to host the Village on our website. It’s a state-of-the-art memory care community, an ideal setting for people suffering the adverse effects of Alzhimer’s and other forms of dementia. Dementia sufferers can live here safely, free to come and go wherever they like. There’s no need for family members to worry about typical tendencies to elopement or getting lost. Residents have a lifestyle that promotes more activity and requires less medication. Everything about this community makes the best of what is decidedly a bad situation.
There are a number of things about this community that make it easy to move here. There's the encouragement to personalize your suite with effects from your home. Another is the warmth of staff, who create a strong sense of kinship and community. Here, community includes not just every senior, but staff and family of residents. Adult children love how they are included in all important discussions.
My aunt was lucky to become one of the first residents here, and I have visited often. This is a truly groundbreaking facility and the staff are as patient and friendly as you'd hope for. I have noted the postings by others who are upset by the cost of living at The Village; asking "who can afford to live here?" and suggesting it is only for the elite. While I could not afford to live here, that is due to my particular circumstances and life choices. My aunt can afford to live here for many years to come, but I want to share her story and show others that living like this is not reserved just for the wealthy. Auntie M. and her family were sent to live in a BC internment camp during the war, when she was just a young girl. She left, barely into her teens; left her family and left school to return to the Lower Mainland to toil as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. She made this sacrifice to send money back to her parents and siblings. Later, after the war ended and everyone moved back to the Lower Mainland, Auntie M. found work in the Steveston cannery. She never completed her schooling; having to still help her parents and siblings and with little education, working in the cannery was what she could do. But, she was wise with her money, saved up, and bought a house. This house and her very dedicated savings are what allows her to enjoy life in the wonderful The Village now and for years to come. I am so happy that this amazing woman, who did hard physical work her whole life, sacrificed her youth and her education, is thriving at The Village due to her own self taught money management efforts. So to those who are affronted and snidely suggest that a community like The Village is an elitist utopian ideal, I suggest otherwise. Yes, it is costly but it is worth every penny for the high quality of care, the beautiful atmosphere and the priceless dignity with which residents are permitted to live. I couldn't recommend it enough!
We couldn't be more happy with the level of specialized dementia care and understanding provided by all the staff at the Village.
My 100 year old mom from Calgary wanted to see her sister-in-law Alice S. as they haven’t seen each other for many years. The staff made us so welcome and the accommodations are so beautiful, I had a hard time leaving! Thank you all for making our stay so wonderful! It meant the world to us! Oh! And the food! Just incredible!
My mom is a very young 93, and she loves the youth connection at Thornebridge. She’s gained new friendships among the youth ambassador program there… You can have as much social life there as you want. For people who like having a big group of friends like my mom, she’s been able to take advantage of the knitting and the bridge clubs, movie nights. One of her favourite things this year is that she has started a gardening club. She’s made some really great friendships there. We’ve been so grateful that she’s so well looked after… [It’s] a place that gives [seniors] what they need.
My mother has lived at Thornebridge Gardens for 4 years. She wanted to live there, so put her house up for sale, and Thornebridge found her the perfect suite. Being almost 92, she is needing more help these days, and the staff are very helpful. Although she does pay extra for the help, help is there. The staff are very patient as well, and handle [her] well.
My mother moved to the Thornebridge in July 2015 because she thought she would need extra care as she approached 97. Her suite is well appointed and more spacious than in the retirement residence she was leaving. She is more active here than ever as the activities are varied and well attended. Mother likes to be around people and is finding the residents to be very friendly. The staff are very accommodating, always willing to do that extra that makes living here so enjoyable. The residence and grounds are well maintained and any issues have been quickly dealt with. The Thornbridge is the 4th residence my mother has lived in and she finds that last is sometimes the best.
What can I tell you about Thornebridge? Well, as you arrive you see a very attractive building in a park like setting. Friendly Benches at the front entrance for visiting or waiting for pick up. A patio where summer barbecues are held is also a nice spot to sit & enjoy the flowers. An easy paved walk around the building, a short walk to uptown New Westminster for shopping. A nicely appointed interior holds a library, an all purpose room for various activities & entertainment so one can be quite busy--or spend quiet time in your suite. Our staff are amazing, they know everyone by name, are friendly, gracious, caring & capable. Servers in the dining room soon get to know your likes or dislikes, our excellent chef creates a wide variety of yummy meals attractively presented & regularly holds a meeting where residents can voice their opinions & suggestions. A pleasant, safe environment for our retirement years.

The Village Langley is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Langley's Brookswood community. We are a secure community with a controlled single point of access.
We are conveniently located in the heart of Uptown New Westminster with easy access to shops, banks, library, medical and professional services, restaurants, theatre, senior centre, and recreational services. Retirement living can be inspired, and inspiring. Every day our residents prove that the historical definition of senior living can be reshaped and rethought. Aging doesn't mean that life should suddenly cease to be fulfilling or lived without spirit and vitality

Personal and medical information is collected and assessed according to each person's unique situation. We complete several individualized assessments including the Mini Mental Status Exam as well as the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. At this time, we are completing testing for COVID-19 and the coronavirus for all new Villagers as well as new staff to ensure the safety, health and wellness of our community.
Each person is a unique individual with unique needs. We always want to be aware of what those needs may be. That is why it is important for us to meet with each person in a private and warm atmosphere to discuss any medical history as well as receive back a completed medical form before moving in. Attention to individual needs and wellness is a priority at Thornebridge Gardens Retirement Residence.
