One of the most notable features of this residence is the spaciousness of the lounges and three dining rooms. Hazelton Place focuses on offering a variety of activities and attractions to bring residents together and facilitate a lifestyle that is as active (or as quiet) as you might want. The area is rife with history including U of T buildings, and it has been recently reinvigorated, with many new shops and outdoor cafes, etc.
The Dunfield is ideal for residents of the city who want to stay close to where the action is, or to family in the downtown core. You'll find happy new neighbours and friends at The Dunfield. In a city full of exceptional seniors' residences, the Dunfield rises higher. It remains a benchmark in high quality senior living in Downtown Toronto.
Leslie has been extremely helpful assisting by brother and I find a home for our 96 year old father. Very quickly we determined that Hazelton was the perfect place. Unfortunately, while other retirement homes have a vacancy rate up to 20%, the assisted living unit at the Hazelton has a wait list of around a year. They must be doing something right!
In considering a place for my mother to retire to I found my visit to the Hazleton to be extremely informative and welcoming. They did everything they could to illustrate the features of the residence including allowing me to see a lived-in suite and inviting me to lunch. I was very impressed. The management staff were very thorough and bent over backward to accommodate my mother’s needs. I would highly recommend it.
I’m deeply grateful to know that my mum is in such good hands! The staff are extremely competent and caring, going above and beyond almost each and every time. Their flexibility and competence has been especially apparent as they have navigated through Covid, always prioritizing safety while also truly focused on the caring community they work so hard to create.
Mom has been a resident here for over two years now. She is happy, safe and in more than capable hands as she ages gracefully and struggles with dementia. But the real joy is knowing that people who work here - especially during a pandemic - remain vigilant in their focus for everyone's safety and well-being. That comfort - knowing mom is receiving daily touch points with the staff - helped us endure the last year where visitations have been curbed by Covid-19. The quality of care is best-in-class and her suite is more than spacious. Above all, she has made new friends and embraces every day with a sense of optimism that is nothing short of inspirational. And to inspire and be inspirational really captures the essence of our experience so far at this gem of a retirement home....I tip my hat to their dedicated staff and
We moved my Mother into the residence in November 2018 and quite frankly it was the best move for her and our family. She is so happy to be in a facility that provides her with such a high quality of life. The suites, the staff, the food and the amenities are all top shelf. The new friendships she has made are irreplaceable to her quality of life. During Covid our family knows that she has been kept safe and we couldn't be more grateful to the amazing team at the Hazelton.
My father has been living at the Dunfield Retirement Residence for a few years and we have been extremely pleased with the residence in all aspects of the building, facilities, staff, restaurant and administration. The general manager, James, is consistently supportive and helpful, doing whatever he can to meet our needs and address our questions/requests. The staff is friendly, inviting and helpful. We feel that our father is in excellent hands at the Dunfield and would recommend this residence to anyone looking for a place for their loved one.
I have been a resident at The Dunfield for eleven years. The building is elegant, bright, cheerful and well maintained. The management and staff are the best! They know your name and make you feel at home in very short order. I love the food and you are not compelled to always sit at the same table at the same time. Residents needing extra care have access to special accommodation and the nursing station. I enjoy the activities. There is a gym, pool, theatre, multipurpose room for concerts, lectures and exercise classes all by a very competent activity team. You can choose any, all or none of these activities. My hobby is photography, and like others with gardening or painting, these activities are promoted. l like the fact that my family is reassured that I am in an enjoyable, comfortable and very secure environment.
The Dunfield cares so much about mom and about all of us. The people are wonderful, the management, the office staff, the PSW's, the nurses, the serving staff at the restaurants and the cleaners and maintenance teams. EVERYONE treats mom and us like family. They care about tiny needs and major things. It is always clean and safe and so family friendly. It is an incredible location, a wonderful environment and a very special place to spend time. AND, the food is great in the restaurants. Worth the investment for a very happy and loving residence for mom and for our family time when we visit.
My parents moved to the Dunfield 7 years ago. It has been their home where they have welcomed family and friends and celebrated many special occasions. The dining room quickly became our family's favourite gathering place. Sadly, our father died this past winter at the Dunfield of old age (91). With Ontario public health's Covid-19 restrictions in place, this was an extraordinarily challenging time but I want to thank the ENTIRE Dunfield staff for their tireless efforts, their remarkable care and kindness in helping my parents and family navigate the necessary lockdowns and restricted visitor policies. On a brighter note, for 6 years our family gatherings in the dining room were numerous and it is very nice that a few of us can once again gather and enjoy a meal with our mom in the Alcove. Mom has good friends at the Dunfield, a testament to her but also the other wonderful residents who help make the Dunfield a warm, friendly, caring and special place to live.
Moving in during COVID was a challenge but everyone here was so helpful. We were isolated but the world was isolated, so we didn’t feel we were missing much. They’re very careful … the goals are very high, and they achieve them.
