How we see Hazelton Place Retirement Residence - Verve Senior Living
Hazelton Place focuses on offering a variety of activities and attractions to bring residents together and facilitate a lifestyle that is as active (or as quiet) as you want. Set in the heart of Yorkville, the area is rife with history, including U of T buildings, and it's reinvigorated with many new shops and outdoor cafes to go along with the area's galleries and shopping. One of the most notable features of this residence is the spaciousness of the lounges and three dining rooms.
Care ranges from independent to assisted living, with bathing assistance and dressing assistance included for those requiring this help; health services include catheter care and other more personal needs. It's ideal for those who still want to be where the living is vibrant. People feel at home soon after moving here. You won't have any trouble getting people to visit you, since there's so much to do inside and out of this well-appointed residence in the heart of Toronto.

Who are you as a community?
Located in the heart of Yorkville, just north of Bloor Street, Hazelton Place offers independent and assisted living. One or two bedroom apartment-style suites with kitchenette. Services include three meals a day, housekeeping, entertainment, recreational/fitness programs and group outings. 24-hour registered nursing staff, and emergency response system. 3 dining rooms, spacious lounges with fireplaces, library, gym, hair salon, therapeutic spa and gardens. Resident parking underground.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?
Hazelton Place makes a resident feel welcome by staff and other residents. In our dining, we offer a variety of choice, exciting and more extensive menus, and with less restrictions for mealtimes. Not only are we the perfect location for those who love the arts, theatre, and culture but are also a friendly and gracious community.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?
Team of managers have a one on one meeting and welcoming residents offer their support to the newest members at Hazelton Place. A cocktail reception allows the newest members to meet others and feel more "at home" in their new residence.
How are residents supported if their needs change?
One of the advantages of Hazelton Place is that support can evolve as residents’ needs change. We offer both independent living, independent supportive living, and assisted living, so residents can receive additional care without leaving the community they know. Our nursing and care team works closely with residents and families to monitor wellbeing and adjust services as needed—from help with medications or daily routines to more comprehensive assisted living support. Families often tell us they appreciate the strong communication from our staff and the thoughtful attention residents receive, which helps everyone feel confident that care is responsive and personalized
Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?
Hazelton Place is often a wonderful fit for seniors who enjoy an active, social lifestyle in a comfortable urban setting. Residents appreciate our vibrant programming, restaurant-style dining, and the many cultural and recreational opportunities nearby in Yorkville. Someone who prefers a very quiet, isolated setting or is looking for more highly clinical care might feel more comfortable elsewhere. Our focus is on providing supportive care in a lively, hospitality-driven community where residents are engaged and enjoy daily life.
What might residents find surprising about your community?
Hazelton is an oasis in the middle of the downtown offering varied and a wide selection of services. We have a youthful vitality with several younger residents in their 70's who are enjoying the retirement lifestyle.
How will your community change in the next five years?
Over the next several years, we expect to continue enhancing the lifestyle and care services that residents value most. Programming will evolve as new residents bring new interests, with ongoing emphasis on wellness, cultural programming, and opportunities to stay active and connected. We’ll also continue strengthening our care services so residents can remain in the community comfortably as their needs change. While amenities and programs will grow, our central goal will remain the same: maintaining a welcoming, high-quality environment where residents feel supported, engaged—proud to call Hazelton Place home.
What five facts about your community should people know?
Great food, excellent nursing care, warm and welcoming receptive staff and residents, many long term staff (working over 10, 15 plus years) giving a genuine "community" feeling. Suites have been renovated and updated with modern and tasteful finishes.

A few steps to the either south or east are the exclusive shops, restaurants and galleries of Hazelton Lanes. Browse at the bookstores, catch a matinee at the cinemas, or perhaps spend a leisurely afternoon viewing the galleries in the area, the more historical U of T buildings or the Royal Ontario Museum. For those who feel like being active, join our exercise, yoga, Tai Chi, or physiotherapy class, or use our fully equipped gym. Attend a concert or listen to one of our guest speakers.
