Gain exclusive insight into life at The Village of Riverside Glen. Comfort Life’s exclusive reviews and videos give you insider information from residents and their families.
This Guelph retirement home creates a vibrant community for seniors, where all care requirements are well taken care of. The word “community” applies strongly to Riverside Glen; it truly feels like a village, where people look out for each other, know each other by name, and come to care about each other personally. Its innovative architecture, laid out like a small town, is a seniors-friendly environment that includes a general store, library, an outdoor cafe, a hairdresser, and other outlets. The village concept also extends to residents living in neighbourhoods where every wing has people with similar care needs.
Although many retirement homes listed at Comfort Life feature excellent staff, the staff at Riverside Glen expresses an above-and-beyond attitude apparent to outsiders. Care is enhanced by the latest research from Schlegel's close association with the Research Institute for Aging at The University of Waterloo. Residents also enjoy the proximity to Riverside Park, Guelph Country Club, and the abundant shopping along Woodlawn Road.

Highly recommended. Staff is terrific and very good at the job they do. Very clean place. My wife is living there and she's very happy there, which makes me happy because I'm like the knight protecting my Queen. There I need no armor because she's well looked after.
They treat my mother amazingly well. Very happy with the staff.
Any time there is a problem, staff are quick to notify me, or just let me know of issues. They are very kind and professional and I know my mum is in a good place with lovely surroundings.
A great experience so far with one of my family members staying here in the Arthur wing; she doesn’t speak much English but as far as I’ve seen, the staff are very patient (and also been quite diligent during COVID) and very kind whenever I’ve visited.
My dad was here. The people here are angels sent to help us [to help us] with the most difficult times. I will not forget them.
Love this place. The people that work with my Mom are so caring and patient. They are amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
They are good to my parents.
My mom is a resident in the long term care section of Riverside Glen. The home is always clean, and the staff do their best to show love and compassion to the residents AND their family members. My Dad visits every day, and staff go out or their way to chat with him, give him updates on mom, and make him feel a part of the Riverside Community. Before the pandemic, he was always invited to accompany her on special day trips like drives to see the Fall leaf colours, or drives through the Sparkles in The Park Christmas light display. The pandemic has been very hard on everyone, but the people at Riverside Glen have been working hard to make the vest of a bad situation.
My 90 year old mom lives there on the retirement side. Well maintained facility.
The palliative care given to our dying family member was exemplary and greatly appreciated.
Staff is great. They take lovely care of my mother.
Riverside Glen has been my home for over a year now. The Pesky Covid Virus has cramped the normally vibrant activities. However, a dedicated group of team members look out for our every need. Right now, the safest place to be is within these walls as the pandemic rages around outside. I would write more but the activity director is calling me to a special hallway activity.
[The Village] became our new home in April 2018. The transition to retirement living was made very easy by a caring staff, wonderful meals and days full of activities.
My grandfather is in long-term care and [our family is] glad it's here. I'm thankful for all the staff who care for these residents.
[We are] so thankful for the staff at Riverside ... we can rest knowing the care my father in law is getting is second-to-none! I especially am grateful for [many staff members who] have become family to [us] ... amazing support and love and care.
The staff are all so caring and kind to my mother.
