How we see Forestview Retirement Residence
One unique aspect of Forestview is a monthly residents' meeting, where your opinion gets heard on issues like upcoming events, as well as any other suggestions you have. That extra personal attention is seen also in the care options available. There are regular services like laundry and medication management, of course, but Forestview goes beyond that. For example, you can create your own personalized care plan that meets your specific needs, adding a la carte services as you require.

This is a community that takes its interest in your needs and concerns to a whole new level. The community offers a continuum of care from independent to assisted living to memory care, coupled with luxurious care that includes unique daily dining experiences, and a bistro and juice bar.
Management of health care is, of course, a central concern, and inside, you'll find registered health care practitioners, as well as assistance with activities of daily living. Who are you as a community?
Welcome to Forestview Retirement Residence, a refreshing, natural setting that overlooks a lush ravine green belt and is close to all the conveniences and comforts of city living. Our elegantly appointed retirement community offers a range lifestyle options and customizable services that allow you to age gracefully in place, along with services and extensive amenities designed to enrich and support you through life’s changes. We are a proud recipient of the 2022 Consumer Choice Award for Senior Care / Retirement Residences. With dozens of retirement residents in the Toronto Central Region to choose from, we are deeply honoured by this acknowledgement. Forestview Retirement Residence is North York's newest seniors' residence. This well-appointed 5 story building has 128 suites and overlooks the West Don Parkland Conservation Area. This Retirement Living Community offers Independent Lifestyle Accommodations and Services, Full Service Assisted Living, and Short-Term Respite Stays.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?
Our staff are constantly being praised by our residents for the level of thought and care that we provide on a daily basis. Our culinary team provides Kosher Style food for those who are interested
What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?
If the new resident is open to it, we pair them with our Resident Ambassador. Our Resident Ambassador program pairs current residents that would like to volunteer with new residents. The Resident Ambassador escorts the new resident to meals and activities and introduces them to other residents. They also answer questions that they may not feel comfortable asking our team. In addition to this program, each department manager goes to see the new resident to address areas that they oversee. For example, our Chef will discuss dietary needs and our Life Enrichment Manager gives them a full overview and introduction to our Activities Program.
What might residents find surprising about your community?
We have three large plots in our backyard that are used to grow vegetables and a few different types of berries. It is a joint venture with our Resident run Gardening Club and our Culinary team. When the produce is ripe, we clean them off and serve them within our dining room. This is about as local as you can get!

1. Forestview is only 5 years old, making us the newest Retirement Residence in North York.

3. We are owned by Advent Health Care Corporation. It is a faith based not-for-profit, offering more affordable rates.

Maria Mercone
Over the past 26 years, Maria has worked in both the Retirement and Long Term Care sector as a General Manager/Administrator caring for seniors from apartment living, independent, assisted to memory care. Most recently, she has worked as an Operations Business Partner supporting General Managers and team leaders in Ontario and British Columbia.
Inspiring and innovative, she coaches her teams to be their best. When not with her Forestview Family, Maria’s passion is travelling to over 43 countries and swimming.
Her commitment and dedication are to provide high-quality customer service and the best care to our residents.
