Our Perspective

How we see Forestview Retirement Residence

One unique aspect of Forestview is a monthly residents' meeting, where your opinion gets heard on issues like upcoming events, as well as any other suggestions you have. That extra personal attention is seen also in the care options available. There are regular services like laundry and medication management, of course, but Forestview goes beyond that. For example, you can create your own personalized care plan that meets your specific needs, adding a la carte services as you require.

Downsview, Willowdale and North York seniors find the option of pure elegance in Forestview Retirement Residence. This is a community that takes its interest in your needs and concerns to a whole new level. The community offers a continuum of care from independent to assisted living to memory care, coupled with luxurious care that includes unique daily dining experiences, and a bistro and juice bar.

Management of health care is, of course, a central concern, and inside, you'll find registered health care practitioners, as well as assistance with activities of daily living. This community also welcomes post-surgery and other short stays. For all that, no words can capture the peace of mind and personal warmth you'll find in this community. Opened in 2017, this community combines experience and completely contemporary values in construction and design to create a happy, fresh environment. Forestview meets seniors' needs, certainly, but seeks to enhance your life beyond any expectations you might have.

Community’s Perspective

How Forestview Retirement Residence sees itself

Who are you as a community?

Welcome to Forestview Retirement Residence, a refreshing, natural setting that overlooks a lush ravine green belt and is close to all the conveniences and comforts of city living. Our elegantly appointed retirement community offers a range lifestyle options and customizable services that allow you to age gracefully in place, along with services and extensive amenities designed to enrich and support you through life’s changes. We are a proud recipient of the 2022 Consumer Choice Award for Senior Care / Retirement Residences. With dozens of retirement residents in the Toronto Central Region to choose from, we are deeply honoured by this acknowledgement. Forestview Retirement Residence is North York's newest seniors' residence. This well-appointed 5 story building has 128 suites and overlooks the West Don Parkland Conservation Area. This Retirement Living Community offers Independent Lifestyle Accommodations and Services, Full Service Assisted Living, and Short-Term Respite Stays.

  • Opened in: 2018
  • Ownership: Private.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

Our staff are constantly being praised by our residents for the level of thought and care that we provide on a daily basis. Our culinary team provides Kosher Style food for those who are interested

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

If the new resident is open to it, we pair them with our Resident Ambassador. Our Resident Ambassador program pairs current residents that would like to volunteer with new residents. The Resident Ambassador escorts the new resident to meals and activities and introduces them to other residents. They also answer questions that they may not feel comfortable asking our team. In addition to this program, each department manager goes to see the new resident to address areas that they oversee. For example, our Chef will discuss dietary needs and our Life Enrichment Manager gives them a full overview and introduction to our Activities Program.

What might residents find surprising about your community?

We have three large plots in our backyard that are used to grow vegetables and a few different types of berries. It is a joint venture with our Resident run Gardening Club and our Culinary team. When the produce is ripe, we clean them off and serve them within our dining room. This is about as local as you can get!

What five facts about your community should people know?

1. Forestview is only 5 years old, making us the newest Retirement Residence in North York.
2. We are located within a large campus with walking paths through out.
3. We are owned by Advent Health Care Corporation. It is a faith based not-for-profit, offering more affordable rates.
4. We have won the 2022 and 2023 Consumer Choice Award for business excellence in the category of Senior Care/Retirement Residences within the Toronto Central Region.
5. A warm, welcoming community, with caring, attentive team members.

Reviews of Forestview Retirement Residence

What residents and their loved ones say about Forestview Retirement Residence in reviews.

John Wilson, family member

"Our mother moved onto the assisted care floor 3 months ago and we are very pleased. She moved from a good independent living retirement home. Anna, the Wellness Director, has been open and responsive to dialogue and has done things to improve our mother’s physical and mental well-being. The doctor, who is on-site once per week, has been a good listener and has helped as well. The staff response times and the integration with LIHN workers have been great. The staff all seem to know her name and..."

Jordan D., family member

"My grandparents are residents of this retirement home and they are pleased with their experience. Linda the general manager has also been incredibly accommodating. I would highly recommend this home."

Chris R., family member

"I'm impressed with the Forestview Retirement Residence's handling of the current pandemic situation. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The food service and quality is on the level of a five star hotel."

COVID-19 Information

At all times we must follow the guidelines set forth by the local provincial health authority. In many cases we implement safety initiatives before the governments mandates them. While we pride ourselves on doing everything we can to keep our communities safe, it does alter the way we connect with the outside community.
