What do you do differently or uniquely well?

We create a lifestyle that feels both personalized and welcoming. Every resident arrives with different interests and routines, so we focus on understanding those preferences and helping each person shape their own experience. Through attentive service, engaging programs, and comfortable surroundings, we support residents in living actively and independently while enjoying the benefits of a supportive community.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

When someone joins our community, we take time to ensure the transition feels comfortable and reassuring. Our team introduces new residents to the dining room, common spaces, and daily routines that shape life here. Just as importantly, we help them connect with neighbours and staff so they quickly begin building friendships and feeling at home in the community.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

If a resident’s needs evolve, additional services such as nursing support, personal care, medication administration, and emergency response can be arranged. Our team works closely with residents and families to ensure the right level of assistance is in place while maintaining independence and dignity. The goal is to help residents continue enjoying the lifestyle they value while knowing support is available when it is needed.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

Someone needing a residence designed primarily for advanced medical care may find another setting more appropriate. The Westhill Retirement Residence tends to appeal to seniors who enjoy an active community lifestyle with opportunities to connect, dine, and participate in wellness programs. We work best for individuals who value independence alongside supportive services and social engagement.

What might residents find surprising about your community?

Many residents are pleasantly surprised by how lively and welcoming the community feels. From shared meals to social gatherings and wellness activities, there is always something happening. At the same time, the atmosphere remains comfortable and friendly, allowing residents to participate as much or as little as they wish.

How will your community change in the next five years?

Over the next five years, we expect to continue strengthening the lifestyle and wellness experience that residents already value here. What residents and their loved ones say about Chartwell Westhill Retirement Community in reviews.

Helen Ramirez, family member

"We never expected that we would, as a family have to make such a huge decision and make it so fast. I had to find a place for my dad, who, after a stroke, couldn't return home safely. I called every place in town and visited places that I hoped would be a good landing place for Dad. My heart sank with what I witnessed out there until that moment when two people from Westhill visited Dad in the hospital and immediately graced him with immense kindness, care, and laughter! In the months since then..."

Janice Gibel, family member

"The Westhill is a beautiful retirement home, inside and out. The inside is very well-maintained, and the grounds are beautiful outside. I was outside at an event with my dad recently, and the recreational staff took pride in setting up beautifully decorated tables for a sangria tasting event. They make all the events there inviting for residents. They know the names of the residents and engage with them, and make them all feel special. The staff at the front desk, administrators, staff in the we..."

Kevin Zach, family member

"Mom spent 3 wonderful years at The Westhill Retirement Residence. All the staff at Westhill from Property Maintenance, PSWs, Nurses, Administration, Dining, Reception, and Management were all fabulous and made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Everyone called mom by name, which made her smile. The staff were always cheerful and happy which shows well for management. Thanks Westhill!"

Testimonials and Stories

  • Never a dull moment

The people here are very friendly and when I arrived I had a great resident mentor who invited me to things and got me involved in all the activities, allowing me to meet other residents. My family really enjoys their visits. My grandchildren and I have gone to exercise classes, we’ve enjoyed family dinners in the dining room and my daughter joins me for the theatre excursions. My children even come to the bar on Friday’s to have a drink with me!

  • An Easy Transition

One of my favourite activities at The Westhill are brain games, they keep your mind sharp and challenged. There is always so much going on here, it’s sort of like living on a cruise ship! Bank runs and The Boardwalk loop are so convenient and the staff feels like family! Without question, I would recommend The Westhill to others. It’s a great place to live and my transition was so easy.”
