Reviews of Grandview Retirement Living

Gain exclusive insight into life at Grandview Retirement Living. Comfort Life’s reviews give you exclusive insider information.

Our perspective

The owners of Grandview Retirement Living are known for the pride they take in state-of-the-art buildings that are characterized by an attention to detail. Expect professionalism from a caring staff and enjoy exceptional services in a place you can call “home”.

This seven story community brings superior construction to Stoney Creek, in an area that’s progressively revitalizing. There’s plenty of shopping on Centennial Parkway, with quiet residential streets, and beautiful natural areas nearby along the escarpment. Of course, when you look at the list of amenities that will be included here, this promises to be a resort-like place where people will fill their days with lively fun.

In that setting, you’ll take part in, and help create a positive community where people look out for each other, and enjoy each other’s company. Places like the pool, exercise room, theatre, and games room (the list goes on) will be gathering places for seniors making fast friends here. In our experience, people find common connections with others living here, finding revitalization and new joy in life, in a beautiful new building where they’re surrounded entirely by peers.

Since I moved my 2 uncles to Grandview Retirement Residence I have seen much improvement in their health and overall mood. The activities this home has keeps my uncles active both mentally and physically. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They know each residence by name. They are very honouring and treat the residents with genuine respect. The place is immaculately clean. When an issue arises, the staff 9 out of 10 respond courteously and efficiently. They are quick at problem-solving. I especially had a concern for one of my uncles who was operating on 20% use of his kidneys prior to moving into the home. Since bringing him to Grandview Retirement, his kidney function has increased to 25%; something unheard of in the nephrology clinic. I was so pleased with the Executive Chef Ezio, going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure my uncle received nutritious, healthy, well-balanced meals. My uncles have gained their independence back since they moved here and I have peace of mind knowing they are well looked after. Thank you to all staff, but a special thanks to the 2 Ritasat reception, Christine the nurse, Chef Ezio, Catherine in Sales and the Maintenance Staff. You have made life pleasurable again for the Ganja brothers and friends, and have taken a huge burden off me.

Catherine Hall [is] an absolute pleasure to work with... she shows she cares, a gift that is very special and rare. We know a gentleman who is now a resident of Grandview and he so enjoys it.

Grandview Retirement Living in Stoney Creek, Ontario is a wonderful place for seniors to live & thrive and I highly recommend booking a tour/meeting to find out everything this retirement home has to offer. Honestly, you won't be disappointed. The home is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the food is delicious! They also offer a variety of activities/events and the seniors currently living there are so friendly & welcoming to all. My parents transitioned from their home of 40+ years to their new home effortlessly. They are truly happy, relaxed and I have peace of mind knowing my parents are safe, respected and well cared for.

When I decided to check out Grandview Retirement Living (GRL), Catherine Hall showed me around and a Studio that was available to rent. I first met Catherine at a Seniors Club, Club 60, where she provided a very nice Luncheon, with all sorts of sandwiches, fruit, vegetable's and cakes. Righr from the start I new I'd like her. She was warm and friendly, with a great smile. She answered all our question and more.

I moved in on the 1 October 2022 and have no regrets. All the staff are quite friendly and greet you, with your name and a smile. Rita(s) at the front desk, are always friendly and willing to help you as best they can.

The Chef has a great selection of meals, that are very tasty and meets everyone's needs and special diets.

Judy, the Manager of activities, is a ball of fire. Always on the go, running and organizing all the activities, and there are a lot of things to do daily. Judy is another great person on the GRL staff, that is always willing to help you.

All in all, it's been a great experience and I'm looking forward for many years to come.

This summer I had the pleasure of meeting with Catherine who is in charge of new residents moving in and having a grand tour of this beautiful retirement home. The amount of activities that are available to their residents inside the home itself is plentiful and one would never get bored living in this setting.

Since moving here earlier this year, our father is having such an active and fun retirement life - from weekly entertainment, to fitness, to monthly bus trips out to Confederation Park, Niagara Falls Casino, Butterfly Observatory, and even St. Jacobs.

He loved to cruise when our mother was still alive so every day has been like living on a cruise ship. He loves going down to see all the Entertainment (e.g., singers, musicians, lectures) - his passion is photography and videography, so it has provided him the opportunity to film and photograph visiting entertainers!

Plus he has learned new skills from other residents who have become new friends - like billiards and mini-golf. As well as poker! Our father is very social and likes to be around people, so this new phase has provided him the opportunity to socialize more than when he was living alone and no longer able to drive as much.

Grandview has lots of seating/lounge areas which we have used for regular private family and holiday celebrations. Everything is clean and new as they opened only in the June timeframe.

The Stoney Creek staff are all very friendly and caring. Sometimes the food service has been slow, but the gourmet meals are nutritious and tasty.

There is a "town car" service that residents will soon be able to use (i.e., to be able to book for own private transportation). The surcharge is reasonable compared to paying uber or taxi.
