Reviews of Trico LivingWell

Gain exclusive insight into life at Trico LivingWell. Comfort Life’s reviews give you exclusive insider information.

Our perspective

A superlative midrise showing a company that’s fervently progressive in anticipating the needs of today’s seniors into the coming years. It's the kind of seniors’ building you definitely want to move to. People are effusive about it and run out of adjectives in their reviews.

Here’s a brief look at why. Trico is suitably proud of creating a wellness culture here, seen in the built-in air quality system, and features like living walls, a rooftop garden, and several patios. It’s also seen in the presence of recreational therapists, fitness specialists, dieticians, art instructors, and more. Walk in here to wide, bright spaces. There’s a well-stocked bistro, a piano lounge, spacious dining, a well-equipped games area, a creative studio, and a fitness centre with the latest exercise equipment. Suites are all just as beautiful and spacious.

Meals are prepared by an award-winning chef, demonstrably passionate about creating great food from fresh ingredients, in appetizers, entrees, and desserts that delight. That passion carries over to servers. In fact, you’ll find all of the staff professional and enthusiastic. All of this works together to create a place that will make you happy and grateful every day, the kind of setting that brings out the best in everyone.

Trico LivingWell is ideal for seniors who remain excited by life’s possibilities. There are a lot here! We’ll add lifelong learning and programming, choice amenities, and the care options that extend to care for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Choose to age in place, here, ideal for older Calgarians who want the very best in life.

We moved in into this community after researching similar facilities. The common areas are beautiful.
Our unit is spacious, modern and beautiful. But most of all we are very impressed with the kindness of the staff. Always willing to help and accommodate all needs. They went beyond expectations when we had a delay in our moving in date. We were touched and are very grateful.

We moved my 90-year-old mother into Trico LivingWell in July 2023 into Assisted Living in the Birch building. We had searched online and found 35 different retirement complexes in southwest Calgary and physically toured 7 of them. Trico was the clear top choice for us. It is a very new facility and is designed with seniors in mind. The interior is inviting, the main floor (where the dining room and most programs are located) is bright, has high ceilings, and feels very open. Inside the suites, it is very quiet, since the building is made of concrete, not wood. There is a small park nearby and my Mom loves to watch out the window whenever a young family is playing there. She enjoys immensely the various programs at Trico, especially the senior’s physical activity classes that she goes to two times a day most days in the Wellness Centre. She says how friendly all of the residents are, and that the staff are all very nice. The food is outstanding! When we visit her weekly she literally thanks us every time, for finding this place for her. I believe that since she has been at Trico she has become sharper mentally and she is even happier than her usual self. I think that the Trico environment and programs have contributed to that.

We are so grateful to Kelsey Clarke, Executive Director. I am not sure I can explain this properly, but she was like a ‘calming oasis’ or ‘bright lighthouse’ for us when we were going through the busy process of relocating my mother. Kelsey was always there for us happily touring us through the building and programs. She is extremely pleasant, welcoming, and a wealth of knowledge. She is passionate about what she does and really cares about people, and you can feel this when you meet with her.

Trico has gone above and beyond in caring for my father after he experienced a couple of medical incidents. Everyone - from the housekeeping staff, and the front desk, to the nursing staff and the care aids to the dining room staff - everyone has been so helpful and professional. We just had another celebration in the family dining room and it was exceptional - a seriously better meal than I often get in restaurants. Chef Liana accommodated a number of food allergies and sensitivities and created an exciting and delicious tasting menu for us, perfectly executed by her staff. So glad that my father can be at Trico!

Moving a family member to a senior’s residence is an emotional time. We worked with Brandie to understand what Trico LivingWell offered and, after seeing some other options, it was obvious that Trico LivingWell was the top choice. Brandie was absolutely wonderful – so knowledgeable and patient with all of my questions! The facility is beautiful to see and is constructed and run to standards that I suspect few others can match (check out the info on the Well Standard on their website). My father felt at home from the first visit. All of the other staff we have interacted with have also been great – from the front desk to the artist in the creativity lounge to staff in the dining room. I highly recommend that you consider Trico LivingWell.

We also celebrated a landmark birthday Dad in the private dining room at Trico LivingWell. I met with Chef Liana to inform her of family allergies, food intolerances, and preferences – there were many and she was not fazed at all. We asked her to be creative and my goodness, did she deliver! Delicious and creative appies, lovely main course, and all beautifully presented. I loved that Chef Liana introduced her staff to us and that each dish was explained. The chocolate pate with passion fruit gelee was the perfect end to our little feast. Most importantly, Dad felt he could not have had a nicer birthday dinner. Thank you, Chef Liana, the other chefs, Maria, the servers, and everyone who made our experience so memorable!

Over the past months since Trico Livingwell opened, Sharon and I have visited with six members of their team at very stages of planning the next move in our retirement. On one occasion, the Director of Health walked us through all of the steps to work with AHS even though they were a private residence. We then reserved a four day visit with our cat and were so impressed. On arrival, we were guided through the underground garage and met at the parking stall by Kelsey with a cart to help us get installed. Even other residents went out of their way to be welcoming. We met the General Manager who brought us a delightful Coffee plant for the suite and to take home. We had to leave early and they waved the fees. After six months of research, we are now two weeks away from moving into our new home. The ever-present help and guidance of Brandie and Cathy and every staff member we have met has made it such a smooth transition.

My Mom moved into Trico LivingWell just over a month ago and it has been wonderful. The building is so bright and welcoming and the staff are polite and accommodating - even with all of our questions and phone calls. Kelsey and Elma are very professional and made the move seem much less stressful than we had thought it would be. The staff knew my Mom’s name from the moment she arrived and were so great at helping her adjust to a new environment - which was a little scary for her because of her dementia. I can’t say enough about the staff and quality of care - it’s amazing.

Robert Lang, family member

My Mom is in Memory Care and I am very satisfied with everything about this facility. The suite, amenities, food, and activities are all excellent and the nursing/care staff are exceptional. They have consistently displayed professionalism, patience, and compassion in their interactions with Mom and the other residents.

Janice Twamley, family member

My sister just moved into Trico Living Well and I really like it a lot. I like the fact that they have a restaurant that is open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and I can have a meal with my sister anytime I want. It is like a 5-star resort . The fact that my sister lives in a brand new apartment with her own washer and dryer is something I wish I had. On a scale of 10. I give it 10. I wish I could live there.

Beverly MacInnis, family member

Our experience over the past 18 months, while our aunt has been a resident of Trico Living Well, has been entirely consistent the information and philosophy found on Trico Living Well’s website.

The facility itself is bright, open, colorful, and (despite its size) homey. The front desk staff are warm and welcoming and make our aunt, her family and friends feel at home. The nurses are vigilant - addressing health needs immediately and respectfully. The LPNs and health care aides banter with our aunt as they help her with hygiene and dressing, all the while maintaining her dignity. The chef and dining room staff quickly learned of our aunt’s preferences and continue to accommodate her with tasty alternatives. The maintenance staff have helped us learn the features of the furnace/air-conditioning, have helped with moves into and within the building, and have installed extra clothes hooks. The cleaning staff are careful and thorough. The owners visit often, checking in with staff, residents, and guests.
Everyone greets my aunt and us by name.

Brandi has facilitated our moves with efficiency and compassion (first into and then within the building, as our aunt moved into memory care).

Mariam Haymour, family member

We are so impressed with Trico Living Well. All the staff goes above and beyond the usual care. The meals are incredible and the space feels like home. We feel so blessed to have our mom so well taken care of. She is very comfortable and happy.

Gordon Milne, senior

We’ll managed and friendly support staff.

Trico Livingwell is a beautiful place with well-appointed suites to suit aging seniors with all levels of care. From the time we had our first tour with Brandi, to meeting Nancy (Nurse) and Cathy (Wellness Director) we knew that this is where our father had to be. Our Dad is 91 years old and needs special care and Trico has offered that and more. He is well looked after by staff, nurses and HCA, everyone is friendly and willing to help him out with whatever he may need to make his day extra special. We have had the pleasure of eating with him and the Food was very good. Our Dad has lived at other Seniors centers but we have never really been totally satisfied with his care or the food that was offered. Trico is unique because you can sit down and eat all day long, there is not an assigned time for Breakfast, lunch and dinner, so if you sleep in or are just extra hungry that day you can have two lunches! There is also a menu that is offered every day along with the options for each meal in case you would prefer something different. We also loved that there is 24-hour security at the front desk making it safer for the seniors living there. Our dad has also had his hair cut at the hair salon with Jig and he loved that he could do this without leaving the building.

My experience with Trico LivingWell has been nothing short of exceptional, and I am delighted to share my positive impressions. From the moment we began our search for a seniors community, Trico LivingWell stood out, and it has truly exceeded our expectations.

Kelsey C., the Director of Leasing, played a crucial role in making my mom's transition smooth and positive. Kelsey went above and beyond to ensure my mom felt welcomed and valued right from the beginning. Her warm and friendly demeanor, combined with a genuine commitment to creating a sense of community, made the decision to choose Trico LivingWell an easy one.

I also want to express my gratitude to Nancy P., the Clinical Lead & Educator at Trico LivingWell. Nancy has been instrumental in helping us understand and meet my mom's unique physical, dietary, and social needs. Her expertise and dedication to the well-being of residents have been evident throughout our interactions, providing us with invaluable guidance and support.

After an extensive search that included three other senior communities, Trico LivingWell emerged as the clear choice for us. The attention to detail, compassionate staff, and commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community make Trico LivingWell stand out in the senior living landscape.

Since moving into Trico LivingWell, my mom has found a true home, surrounded by caring individuals who prioritize her comfort and happiness. I highly recommend Trico LivingWell to anyone seeking a senior living community that goes above and beyond in providing a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment for its residents. Thank you to the entire Trico LivingWell team for making a positive impact on my mom's life.

I Sager, senior

Brandi Young is superb in her sales consultant role. Clearly committed to using her knowledge and experience to find people their next home. Brandi invested time to ensure all my questions were answered and provided an opportunity to see the community in action.
Already a happy member of the Trico Community but exploring next step possibilities. This clean bright facility and caring culture throughout the team is somewhere I would highly recommend for anyone looking for graduated support living. Safe, welcoming, and fun is the feeling you will get immediately. Be independent as you like or find the support you need.

Ralph Meyer, senior

This is one very excellent [community of] independent and semi-independent living buildings. I found the staff to be very friendly. I always see happy people here. I love the layout , exercise room, dining areas . When dropping off friends it's excellent setup. The covid protocols were excellent.

Diana Murray, family member

My 88 yr-old-dad came to Trico LivingWell in August for a respite stay after being in hospital. He has now become a permanent assisted-living resident. I have been so impressed with the excellent level of care he has received from the nurses and health care aids. The building is new (they recently celebrated their one year anniversary), modern, clean, bright and welcoming. The staff is phenomenal - these are people who really enjoy seniors. There are plenty of interesting activities for those who wish to engage. The food is great. Five stars for sure!

Michele H, family member

A few months ago, we celebrated my mother's 95th birthday at her residence, and the kitchen staff went above and beyond to create an incredible, memorable event! The food was absolutely delicious, and presented beautifully in the comfortable party room on the main floor. Our guests were very impressed and commented on how lovely everything was. Thank you to Chef Liana and her staff!

Trico LivingWell has a spacious, bright and pleasant open concept. We searched a number of facilities and found this to be the best facility for the price with incredible amenities.

Cheryl (and Paul) Straub, resident

We just moved into our apartment at Trico Living Well and we cannot thank the Trico Team enough for making our move seamless. Brandi, Kelsey, Sadiq and all the staff are professional, caring, and have the best interests of their clients in mind, at all times. When we first walked into Trivo Living Well, we knew this was a special place. Air quality and Independent Living apartments with air conditioning were especially appealing to us. Their commitment to Well V2 Certification is admirable.
Bravo Trico Living Well !! We love it here.

Wendy Tynan, family member

As a family, we were quite familiar with a number of facilities for memory care but the moment we walked into Trico Living Well, we knew that it was something special. The facility is bright, new and clean but the magic is in the team. We are so appreciative of the loving care they are providing and their willingness to embrace the entire family as we navigate this next phase. HCAs, LPNs, RNs on the 8th Floor and the entire team - thank you.

Sue Koss-McGregor, resident

I highly recommend this beautiful community! Initial meeting/tour was very informative and the move in using Trico's recommended moving company was flawless. Staff are wonderful and always willing to help. The building is beautiful, clean, and well kept. Programs and amenities are well designed and the food is fantastic!

Stacey Pepper-Mayo, family member

Nothing but great things to say! Kind hearted people in every part of the transition and nothing makes me happier than knowing my mom is in great and safe hands. Thank you so much.

Our father recently moved into an independent living suite in the Oak Building. We looked at quite a few places before deciding on Trico LivingWell --- it was the nicest, hands down. It was so clean, bright and beautiful, and we would highly recommend it. We dealt with Brandie and found her to be very personable, caring, and efficient. She was responsive in answering any questions and she helped ensure the move and transition went smoothly. We also want to mention Kelsey and Danielle have been very helpful and wonderful to deal with as well!

Susan Hanley, resident

Wonderful, caring staff that helped make a stressful transition as seamless as possible. The accommodation is second to none. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Beautiful bright rooms and fantastic food. Would highly recommend!

My father moved here in April. We celebrated his 94th birthday last night in the private dining room hosted by Chef Leanne. The dinner exceeded our wildest dreams! We were treated to a 6 course meal! Each course came with an explanation of flavours and ingredients mixed in, with personal experiences from Chef Leanne and Olivia. We were beyond impressed. By far, the best meal of my life, and for my dad and his family to be treated like the chef’s on family topped it off. We were encouraged to make more memories here and we plan to do that often! This was a truly amazing experience for us all!

Trico LivingWell is a fantastic residence. We searched a number of facilities to find one for our Mom who had lived in the same house for the last 64 years! Change could be a concern. As soon as you enter the facility, you're impressed with the spacious, bright and cheery open concept. From the dining room to the bistro to other areas of social activities, you could tell this was the easy choice. No other residences were comparable... The dining room has a great selection of exceptional food with individual dietary needs if required. This is coupled with a bistro for those snacks when you crave them. There's plenty of social activities to keep you busy. Residents are all friendly and welcoming. Note that there is ample street parking and free visitor underground parking which makes your visits easy. We would highly recommend Trico LivingWell.

I have been here almost 2 months. I waited to see if I liked this place before writing a review. It's is everything Brandy said it was. The food his like dining in a fine restaurant. Plenty of activities to keep you busy. The suites are roomy and I love the walk-in shower. The first visit here is visually stunning.

The team at Trico LivingWell is providing amazing service for my aunt, who moved into an independent residence just before her 86th birthday. Trico's Director of Leasing, Kelsey Clarke, exhibited exceptional professionalism and patience for my aunt to ensure all of her questions were answered before making her decision to move into Trico. I have no doubt my aunt will enjoy and comforts and services at Trico LivingWell.

I cannot express my gratitude to the team at Trico Living Well. My mom is moving in there and the process was seamless. The suites and amenities are fantastic. Mom said it feels like a luxury hotel and she’s not wrong. Both Brandie and Kelsey made us feel so calm and relaxed. My mom is so excited to move in and start enjoying her new carefree life ! Can’t wait for her to call Trico home ! As a Trico homeowner I know just how amazing Trico is.

The staff is professional, patient and helpful! The facilities are new, bright and state of the art with the ambience of a boutique hotel! The common areas and activities provide for stimulating community and the residents are friendly and welcoming. Anyone considering becoming a resident or helping move a loved one to this beautiful location can do so with confidence and peace of mind. Thank you to the Team for helping my mom feel so at home.

My parents and I had a wonderful experience at Trico LivingWell and Brandie Young at the Open House last Friday. My parents had a tour with Brandie in the morning which I wasn't able to attend but when I came for the Open House in the afternoon, Brandie still took the time to show me the exact suite my parents have put a deposit on (despite being extremely busy with the Open House.) She answered all my questions (no matter how many times I asked the same one) and provided clear and detailed answers. I was very comfortable with the atmosphere at Trico LivingWell and think it would be a fantastic community for my parents to become a part of. An exciting new chapter for all of us.

My husband and I are delighted to have "discovered" Trico LivingWell Retirement Residences. We have looked around at other seniors' retirement homes but none had the attraction for us that this does. As soon as we entered the building, I felt so welcome and had a sense already that this was going to be it. The staff go out of their way to make us feel comfortable, such a friendly bunch with out being intrusive. The building has everything in it that I could wish for in my old age: interests in arts, exercise, outings, music, entertainment and one is free to participate or not. Did I mention food? The meals are gourmet standard with great choice, alternate menues and snacks always available. The emphasis is on happy health and wellness at an individual level and always with an underlying eye to safety. We are also agreeably surprised with the size and comfort of our future suite. The building is spacious, beautifully designed and cared for and gave us constant pleasure as we walked around, discovering artwork, decorations and very attractive nooks and crannies. This a place where people are encouraged to find the life which they have always wished to have.

The person who made it easy for us to decide quickly that we wanted to live there was our tour guide and fount of knowledge, Brandie Young. Trico chose the right person for her job and she loves what she does, taking great satisfaction in learning about her clients and providing what they want. She will go out of her way to help and is very open and honest. She knows the people who live there already and greets them by name with a few words as well. I personally look forward to seeing more of many of the staff when we actually move in! There is a wonderful atmosphere of home and one is free to come and go without time limits or excessive rules and regulations.

The feeling that I came away with is that the Trico management have the welfare of their clients uppermost in their minds and the business is run to meet their needs. I can't wait to call it my home!!

Recently had to find a new assisted living community for my mom whose dementia and memory care support needs had progressed past the capabilities of her current community. My brother and I toured about 6 different places and were very impressed with Trico Living Well. Our expectations were exceeded by Kelsey Clarke and her team arranging tours and answering questions as well as being able to meet some of the care and nursing team including Cathy, the Director of Health & Wellness. The entire team helped us make our choice for our mom then enabled and supported a practically seamless transition for her to the bright and sunny memory care floor at Trico LivingWell. The relationship-centered care approach at Trico is evident and my mother seems quite happy there.

Michael Grabmuller, family member

We were planning to move my Mother from BC to Calgary and heard about Trico Living Well opening a new retirement /assisted living community in Calgary. We met with Brandie Young who showed us different units and went over the upcoming amenities in the community when they opened In August 2022. Brandie answered our questions and was very helpful in getting my moms suite set up and ready to move in. Since the complex was brand new, there were some minor touch ups that needed to be fixed on our move in date but these were dealt with immediately and quickly. Overall a Great community and excellent staff all around. A lot of the care staff know my mother and she fells very happy here.
