It’s apparent that the entire community is planned around the enjoyment of life. For starters, just look at the list of amenities (including an indoor pool, a spacious movie theatre, chef-prepared meals daily, and a longer list). Life here is full, including regular onsite lectures, fitness classes, and many trips outside the community to take in local sporting events, museums and galleries.
Those factors and others work together to create a vibrant community of independent seniors, along with staff who visibly demonstrate enjoyment of their work and enthusiasm for helping those in their care. Loyalty and integrity is further apparent in the fact that there are both team members and residents who have been here for five years or longer. This is ideally affordable for area seniors who love all the best in life and who have family on the west end of Ottawa Region.
Recently, my mom and dad made Waterside their new home, and they have settled in quickly, making new friends, enjoying the events and facilities, and the meals. They chose Waterside (above other homes) because they were made to feel welcome right from their first visit, and the bright openness of the rooms was an attraction for them. Trigger and her team made their move easy and stress-free, and the staff team has been terrific in taking care of their needs. I am happy to see them so comfortable—Nancy Dodsworth, family member

Waterside has the best of everything. Medical staff on duty, great food. [There are] many events if you’re active, both within Waterside and also by bus. [There’s] your own garden plot, a saltwater pool, movies, entertainment, also a bar. Who could ask for more?—Duncan Campbell-Sinclair, resident
Moving a loved one into a retirement community is not easy, it's a big change for everyone and a stressful decision. I will always be grateful to Heather Luneburg for taking the time to clearly communicate the benefits of Waterside and for her diligent follow-up and help with planning. She is not only kind and patient but clearly an expert on all aspects of senior living. I learned a lot and feel better prepared for this next stage of my family's life. My mom has been at Waterside for almost a year. The staff are incredible, they greet her by name and endeavour to meet all her needs. She is comfortable in her suite and is surrounded by all her belongings which made the transfer from home to residence less traumatic. I have eaten there many times and have found the food excellent.—Deborah Laflamme, family member
Our short time at Viva Waterside Carleton Place was excellent! The facilities were very good, especially as my husband was recovering from heart surgery, and an electric bed was available in our suite. The meals were delicious, with lots of options to choose from. We could also have meals in our room if my husband wasn’t able to go to the dining room. The staff were very friendly, helpful and responsive to our needs. There were lots of activities available to us, but unfortunately we weren’t able to participate due to our circumstances at the time. I would highly recommend Viva Waterside to anyone on a long- or short-term basis. In fact, we hope to be able to stay at the Waterside at the next opportunity. Thanks to the staff for making our stay a great one!—Karen Gorr, resident
Waterside is a vibrant, active community. My mom just started living at the "Resort" as my own children call it. Their care for her and kindness during this huge transition period was above and beyond. The hot pool, workout area, movie theatre and brain gym are areas my mom is looking forward to having fun in. [It was] a flawless transition for my mom!—Heidi Lowry, family member
