Origin spends more to purchase the industry’s highest quality raw food products. With better ingredients, we develop menu items that are both healthy and tasty. Our goal is to consistently provide families and their guests with meals that are created primarily by using scratch cooking methods. Our chefs are passionate about creating dining experiences and special events such as brunches and themed dinners.

All suites at our active senior living communities are designed to maximize the comfort and safety of our community members. We are passionately committed to research and development in the discipline of aging and environmental design. Origin Founder, Neil Prashad, was raised by his grandparents who instilled a love and respect for seniors and a passion for caring. Through their encouragement, Neil developed an appreciation for aging adults. Senior living is in his DNA.
Throughout his life, both of Neil’s parents worked in the senior care industry as caregivers. Watching his parents’ triumphs and struggles as members of this industry drove him to seek a better way to care for both seniors and the employees at senior communities.
A focus on caregivers
As Neil crafted what Origin would look like as a company, he desired to create a unique work environment that emphasized caring for the caregivers. He realized that those who work tirelessly to care for seniors and are often underappreciated, and valuing them leads to better senior care.
Today, Origin is best known for its commitment to its team members and how that leads to exceptional care. In 2017, Origin launched the Soul Cafe, a unique online space solely dedicated to connecting and promoting wellness for team members across their various communities.
Over 30 Years of Experience, the Start of Something Great
Neil went on to receive two master’s degrees and over 30 years of experience working for many different companies, all while moving steadily to realizing his dream of Origin Active Lifestyle Communities.
In 2002, Neil acquired the name Origin from a company that was going out of business, but he knew it wasn’t enough. He needed to make it uniquely him and add a differentiator that shared his goal – Active Lifestyles.
