Singing Senior Stars
Chartwell, one of the largest and best known names in retirement living in Canada, hosts an annual competition to select the country's best Senior Star. Older adults who love to sing or play a musical instrument can go to the closest Chartwell residence and fill out a registration.
“Canada applauds the courage of those talented seniors who auditioned and vied for the honours in both the Regional Competitions and the Finals,” said Dinah Christie. “They all so heartily deserve the exuberant celebration they received through the Senior Star experience.”
This competition has been going on for the past four years and draws over 1000 talented musicians over the age of 65 every year.
“The opportunity to compete at a national level with such a talented group of finalists is without doubt one of the most exciting opportunities I’ve had in my musical pursuits,” said 2009 winner Jeanne Rodrigue. “Music has always been an important part of my life and participating in Chartwell’s Senior Star has given me the occasion to challenge myself in a new and exciting way.”
